Inauguration of DGI - IEEE Student Chapter

 

26th November 2013

   

Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Student Branch of Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida was inaugurated on Tuesday, November 26th, 2013.

 

The formal programme began with Ganesh Stuti divinely sung by students Devendra Yadav and Dipankar Mondal.

 

Honorable Prof. Bhim Singh, Chairperson, IEEE Delhi Section graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and inaugurated the Chapter. The occasion saw the presence of esteemed and distinguished Guests of Honor, Mr. Rakesh Malik, Ex-Officio IEEE, Delhi Section, Prof. Bijay Ketan Panigrahi, Associate Professor IIT Delhi. Prof. (Dr) M.S. Murali, Director, DGI Greater Noida, welcomed the guests and gathering.

 

The auditorium, venue for inauguration of the Chapter, was diligently enlightened with the presence of Heads of Departments, faculty members and enthusiastic students. The session was anchored by Miss Shivangi Pokhriyal (ECE-5th Sem), Sukanya (ECE-5th Sem) & by Dr. Ritu Soryan, Assistant Professor.

 

Prof. (Dr.) M.S. Murali, Director, DGI, Greater Noida addressed the inaugural session with his welcome speech. He encouraged the faculties and students to become active members of IEEE. He urged them to participate in different programs conducted under the ageis of IEEE, New Delhi. He also congratulated the Faculty and 55 students of DGI who are Members of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. He appreciated the efforts of Dr. Sarika Gupta, Asst. Professor, Dept. of IT, playing the key role in establishing the Chapter.

 

Miss Shivangi Pokhriyal (ECE-5th Sem), introduced the Chief Guest, Prof. Bhim Singh.

 

After introducing the Office bearers of IEEE DGI Chapter, Prof. Bhim Singh in his inspiring inaugural speech, explained the availability of abundantopportunities in the IEEE arena. Prof. Singh focused on different IEEE sponsored projects. He said that IEEE provides support to continuing Professional Development through learning opportunities and tools for students and Faculties.

 

He emphasized on IEEE, as the world's largest technical professional association, IEEE's membership has long been composed of engineers, scientists, and allied professionals. These include computer scientists, software developers, information technology professionals, physicists, medical doctors, and many others in addition to our electrical and electronics engineering core. For this reason the organization no longer goes by the full name, except on legal business documents, and is referred to simply as IEEE. He said one, being the member of it, can get one’s research papers published in journals or magazines. It provides networks for professionals to meet and discuss their fields of expertise.

 

The Student Chapter Certificate was unfolded by Prof. Bhim Singh, Chief Guest of the occasion and Guest of Honor Mr. Rakesh Malik & Prof. Bijay Ketan Panigrahi.

 

Prof. TPN Singh, Advisor-Research and Development, DGI shared in brief the different projects being carried out by the students. He also shared the accolades achieved by our students with their active participations in various inter-college and national level competitions. Prof. Singh shared various initiatives of the faculty members in the field of research and experimental developments. He took this opportunity to share the grand success of Techno-blast 2013 at national level, which was under the banner of IEEE.

 

Mr. Rakesh Malik (Ex Officio) IEEE Delhi Section emphasized the essence of Industrial Management and Operation Research along with their practical applications in our day to day life. His discussion regarding education stimulated the audience to deal with business projects that would keep us alert about the modern technology along with its magnificent marketing perspective. His words inspired not only faculty members but also the students. His worthy words were treasurable for DGI, Greater Noida.

 

Prof. Bijey Ketan Panigrahi, Associate Professor IIT Delhi, spoke enthusiastically which was appreciated and welcomed by all with applause. He spoke about IEEE and the role of Self- Introspection in our life.

 

The inaugural ceremony came to an end with Vote of Thanks by Dr. Sarika Gupta, Assistant Professor of IT Dept. She thanked the dignitaries for sparing their valuable precious time and gracing the occasion by their benign presence.
