Workshop on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)

DGI-MHRD Institution's Innovation Council (IIC) organized a half day workshop on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) on 7th December 2018 at Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida.
Adarsh Kumar, Student Member, DGI-MHRD IIC welcomed the audience and presented a preview of the activities to be organized by the IIC.
Prof. TPN Singh, Advisor R&D and President, DGI-MHRD IIC opened the workshop with the definition of Intellectual Property. He then went on to explain various Intellectual Properties like Trademarks, Copyrights, Geographical Indications, Industrial Designs, Breeder's Rights, Utility Models and Patents. Prof. Singh logically explained the difference between a patent and a copyright which cleared all the misconceptions of the audience. He then explained how a patent is obtained for any product or idea. He said that to obtain a patent on an idea or a product it should be novel, must have a proper scientific process and should have an industrial application. He also discussed the steps involved in obtaining a patent from Government of India. After his session, Prof. TPN Singh handed over a quiz paper on IPR to the audience. The session was a full package of enlightenment and knowledge about IPR.
