Regional Meet of Institutions Innovation Council

The regional meet of Institutions Innovation Council was held 29th August, 2022 at Abdul Kalam Technological University, Lucknow (UP), organised by Ministry of Education Innovation Cell and AICTE. More than 150+ Faculty representatives from 70+ HEIs took part in this IIC regional meet. 30+ innovations and 35+ IIC posters were also exhibited during the meet. Dr. Abhay Jere, Chief Innovation Officer, Ministry of Education, Government of India graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Across the country, more than 4000+ IICs established in HEIs are instrumental in creating and sustaining the movement of Innovation and Start-up culture development in both technical and non-technical colleges. 4 faculty members Prof. Sanghamitra V.Arora, Dr. Bishub Choudhury, Dr. Shailesh Singh and Prof. Swati Tyagi from Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida attended the regional meet and showcased the posters.
Prof. Pradeep Kumar Mishra Vice Chancellor, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow, Dr. Abhay Jere, Chief Innovation Officer, Ministry of Education, Mr. Dipan Sahu, Assistant Innovation Director, Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell & AICTE, Government of India, and other dignitaries inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp. They spoke about India’s leap in the Global Innovation Index and its aim to be amongst the top in this domain. They also explained on how India’s entrepreneurial ecosystem is maturing and is ready to respond to future challenges. After the inaugural session of IIC Poster Gallery Space, participants from IIC institutions displayed posters highlighting their IIC-Institution’s achievement and impact, innovation stalls, innovations, and start-ups.
Mr. Dipan Sahu, Assistant Innovation Director, Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell & AICTE, Government of India, spoke about India’s leap in the Global Innovation Index and its aim to be amongst the top in this domain. He also spoke about how India’s entrepreneurial ecosystem is maturing and is ready to respond to future challenges. The audience was next addressed by Prof. Pradeep Kumar Mishra Vice Chancellor, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow. He stressed, the culture of innovation has been around for very long but more stress is put on performance based on marks rather than capabilities.
The last speaker for the session was the chief guest, Dr. Abhay Jere, Chief Innovation Officer (CIO), Ministry of Education, Government of India. He stressed upon the need for the present as well as future generations to stay relevant considering they would need to work for more than fifty years with the increasing life span due to advancements in medical science and technology. The Gig economy will further propel this need to be technologically competent and continuously innovate and outperform others. The only way forward, he said, was innovation, creativity and out of the box thinking.
Effective collaboration and knowledge sharing sessions were attended by incubators, State and Regional knowledge agencies, Govt. and non-govt. enablers in four separate tracks.
Track 1: Knowledge sharing session on IIC: Presentation by top performing IIC Institutions and Innovation Ambassadors and Innovators/Start-ups –attended by Prof. Sanghamitra V.Arora.
Track 2: Knowledge sharing session on NISP: Presentation by HEIs those have Successfully Adopted and benefitted from NISP and Developed I&E policy- attended by Dr. Bishup Choudhury.
Track 3: Knowledge sharing session on ARIIA: Presentation by top ranked HEIs in ARIIA 2021 and benefits of participation in ranking – attended by Dr. Shailesh Singh
Track 4: Knowledge sharing session on IP and Technology Transfer: Presentation by experts on IP generation and Technology Transfer – attended by Prof. Swati Tyagi
This meet proved to be a common platform for all ideas, innovations and insights. Some of the well deserving start-ups and grass root innovations were praised. The DGI poster was selected amongst the top 5 in the Poster competition.
