National Board of Accreditation (NBA)

The National Board of Accreditation (NBA) was set up in 1994 by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) under Section 10(u) of the AICTE Act. Its main purpose is to evaluate the quality and effectiveness of technical and professional programs offered by institutions across India.

As the landscape of technical education evolved, there is a growing need for a more transparent and independent accreditation systems. Responding to this, NBA became a fully autonomous body on 7th January 2010. This transition allowed it to operate with greater neutrality and focus more strongly on outcome-based education ensuring that students not only gain knowledge but also develop practical skills relevant to industry needs. The Memorandum of Association and Rules of NBA were amended in April 2013, to make it completely independent of AICTE, administratively as well as financially.

NBA’s role goes beyond simple evaluation as it actively promotes quality assurance in technical education by accrediting programs in areas like Engineering & Technology, Management, Architecture, Pharmacy, and Hotel Management. The accreditation process is designed to measure how well institutions prepare students for professional challenges and global standards.

At Dronacharya Group of Institutions (DGI), NBA accreditation is granted to specific engineering programs which include:

  • Computer Science and Engineering (CSE)
  • Computer Science and Engineering and Information Technology (CSIT)

These accreditations indicate that the programs meet established quality standards in terms of curriculum, faculty, infrastructure, and student outcomes.
