National Drone Symposium - 2024

Two students, Mr. Aman Pandey (B.Tech.-III Year, ECZ) and Mr. Kapil Kumar (B.Tech.-III Year, EEE) along with Dr. Kaustubh Kumar Shukla, (Assistant Professor, Department of Electronics & Communication), Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida participated in the “National Drone Symposium – 2024 on 6th September 2024 at Ajay Kumar Garg Engineering College, Ghaziabad.
The purpose of Symposium was to enhance the knowledge about diverse drones and create the research environment among other students as well as faculty.
The Chief Guest of the Event was Dr. Jay Pandey, VC, AKTU, Guest of Honor, Dr. Mahesh P Trikha, District Governor, RI Distt.3011 and Mr. Smit Shah, President, DFI. Keynote Speaker, Prof. Abhishek, Deptt. of Aerospace Engg., IIT, Kanpur also shared his viewpoints.
Next, session was continued by the different session chairs Dr. Satyender Yadav, Dy. COO Drone Imaging & Information Services of Haryana, Prof. P.K.Das, Head, Center for Drone Tech., IIT Guwahati and speakers Mr. Chirag Sharma, CEO, Drone Destination Mr. Suresh Shahdadpuri, MD, ENERCOMP Solutions Pvt. Ltd. Apart from that notable panelists were Mr. Srirangam Aditya, Assistant Director Operations, DGCA, Mr. Suresh Shahdadpuri, MD, ENERCOMP Solutions Pvt Ltd. Amon others.
The experts highlighted that India is emerging as a global leader in the drone industry due to its vast geographical expanse, diverse terrain, and growing economy. Key factors driving India's drone growth included government initiatives like the Drone Policy 2021, a supportive start-up ecosystem, and numerous market opportunities in agriculture, infrastructure, logistics, disaster management, and skill development. India's growing manufacturing base and skilled workforce made it a global hub for drone manufacturing. However, challenges include ensuring a balanced regulatory environment, developing necessary infrastructure, and reducing drone costs. With continued government support, industry collaboration, and technological advancements, India can harness drones' full potential to drive economic growth and address societal challenges.
Further, the experts discussed as to how the drone industry is rapidly expanding, offering numerous career opportunities for those passionate about technology, aviation, and innovation. Popular career paths include commercial drone pilots, drone instructors, drone technicians, drone data analysts, drone researchers, and drone delivery pilots. The key skills to advance in the career were discussed and included technical proficiency, safe operation, safety awareness, problem-solving, and communication skills. To pursue a career in drone flying, one should obtain a drone pilot license, gain experience through volunteering or part-time work, network with professionals, and consider specializing in a specific industry or application area. With the right skills and dedication, individuals can soar to new heights in the dynamic field was advised to the students attending the symposium.
Drone shows captivating performances featured multiple drones choreographed to create mesmerizing light displays in the night sky. Popular drone shows include Sky Elements, Firefly, and Intel. Sky Elements sets world records for drone light shows, Firefly specializes in immersive experiences, and Intel uses cutting-edge technology and lighting techniques. These shows are increasingly popular for events like festivals, concerts, and corporate gatherings, capturing audiences and creating lasting impressions.
Overall this event was very productive and participation certificates were received in the end of the session.
