World Environment Day

NSS Units of Dronacharya Group of Institutions, in collaboration with the District Backward Class Welfare Department, Gautam Buddh Nagar, celebrated World Environment Day 2026 on 05th June, 2026, with great enthusiasm and a strong commitment to environmental sustainability. The programme was organized under the supervision of Dr. Mamta Bhardwaj and Dr. Gopal Singh, NSS Coordinators, who guided the activities and encouraged active participation from students and staff members.
The event aimed to promote environmental awareness, sustainable practices, and collective responsibility toward building a greener future. The programme was graced by Mr. Lavesh Kumar Sisodia, District Backward Class Welfare Officer, GautamBuddh Nagar, Dr. Sangeeta Mangesh, Director, DGI and Dr. Shailesh Singh, Registrar, DGI, who appreciated the efforts of the NSS Units and inspired participants to adopt eco-friendly lifestyles.
The celebration began with the plantation drive “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam,” symbolizing the deep connection between nature and humanity. NSS volunteers, Heads of Departments, faculty members, staff members, and newly joined employees actively participated in planting saplings across the campus. The drive not only enhanced the green cover of the institution but also reinforced the importance of environmental conservation and community participation in creating a sustainable ecosystem.
To further strengthen environmental awareness, a Plastic-Free Environment Awareness Programme was conducted. Participants were sensitized to the adverse effects of plastic pollution and encouraged to embrace sustainable alternatives in their daily lives. A pledge-taking ceremony was organized, during which all attendees resolved to reduce plastic consumption and contribute actively toward maintaining a cleaner and healthier environment. The programme highlighted the crucial role of individual actions in achieving long-term environmental goals.
Organized under various initiatives of the Government of India and the Government of Uttar Pradesh to mark the completion of 12 years of the Central Government, the event underscored the significance of public participation in environmental protection and sustainable development. The celebration concluded with a collective commitment to environmental stewardship, reaffirming DGI’s dedication to nurturing socially responsible citizens and contributing towards a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future.
