Faculty Development Program on Industrial
Internet of Things (IIoT) and Industry 5.0
1st - 11th June 2026
The Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida, in collaboration with National Institute of Technology (NIT) Patna, organized a 10-day Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and Industry 5.0” from 1st to 11th June 2026 under the aegis of the Electronics and ICT Academy, Phase-II, NIT Patna, with the support of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India. The FDP was organized with the objective of enhancing the technical knowledge, industry-relevant skills, research capabilities, and pedagogical competencies of faculty members in emerging industrial technologies.
The programme focused on the ongoing transition from Industry 4.0 to Industry 5.0, highlighting the evolution towards human-centric, intelligent, sustainable, and resilient industrial systems. Conducted in online mode, the FDP comprised 40 hours of training, including 24 hours of theory sessions and 16 hours of laboratory sessions. A total of 103 participants attended the programme. The sessions were conducted from 11:00 AM to 3:30 PM, except on Sunday, 7th June 2026.
The FDP provided participants with comprehensive exposure to the concepts, technologies, and applications associated with IIoT and Industry 5.0. Expert-led sessions covered a wide range of emerging technologies, including sensors, embedded systems, industrial communication networks, cloud computing, edge computing, Artificial Intelligence, cybersecurity, and data analytics. The sessions focused on how these technologies are integrated to enable smart manufacturing, real-time monitoring, intelligent decision-making, and efficient industrial operations.
A key component of the programme was the introduction to the fundamental principles and emerging applications of Industry 5.0. Participants gained insights into human-machine collaboration, mass customization, sustainability, resilient manufacturing, and the ethical and responsible use of advanced technologies. The discussions helped faculty members understand how technological advancement can be combined with human expertise to develop more sustainable, flexible, and resilient industrial systems.
The programme was conducted through expert-led live online sessions, hands-on laboratory activities, demonstrations, and interactive query sessions. The 10-day training was delivered by a team of experts from India and abroad, with extensive experience in the areas covered under the FDP. The practical sessions provided participants with opportunities to gain familiarity with contemporary technological tools and platforms and to understand their potential applications in teaching, research, and industrial problem-solving.
The FDP also emphasized the application of emerging technologies in academic teaching and Outcome-Based Education (OBE). Participants were introduced to tools and platforms such as simulation software, digital twins, IoT development platforms, cloud-based monitoring systems, and data analytics dashboards. The hands-on demonstrations enabled faculty members to explore ways of incorporating these technologies into classroom instruction, laboratory activities, student projects, and experiential learning, thereby supporting improved student engagement and industry readiness.
The programme also provided valuable exposure to industrial case studies, standards, best practices, and emerging trends in smart manufacturing. These discussions encouraged participants to identify real-world industrial challenges and explore technology-driven solutions. The FDP motivated faculty members to pursue multidisciplinary research, innovation-oriented projects, patent development, start-up opportunities, and industry-sponsored research initiatives.
The programme was coordinated by Dr. Pallavi Verma and Prof. Sanghamitra V. Arora from Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida, and Dr. Ajishek Raj from NIT Patna. The sessions witnessed active participation and interaction among faculty members from diverse academic disciplines. The programme also facilitated meaningful interaction with experts, thereby creating opportunities for knowledge exchange, academic networking, and potential future collaborations in research and technology development.
Participants who attended more than 70% of the FDP sessions and completed the prescribed online assessments were eligible for e-certificates. The successful completion of the programme reflected the participants’ active engagement with the technical and practical components of the training.
Overall, the 10-day FDP on Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and Industry 5.0 served as a valuable platform for professional development and knowledge enhancement. The programme strengthened faculty capabilities in emerging technologies, applied research, innovation, and modern teaching-learning practices. It also contributed towards preparing faculty members to act as academic leaders and change agents capable of supporting curriculum modernization, research and innovation, industry interaction, and the development of a future-ready, skilled, innovative, and socially responsible workforce aligned with the vision of Industry 5.0.
