Awareness Session on "Cholesterol, Heart and Associated Diseases"

NSS Wing of Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida organized a Health Awareness Session on "Cholesterol, Heart and Associated Diseases" in association with Dr. Reddy's Foundation for Health Education (DRFHE) andConfederation of Indian Industries (CII) on 23rd June 2016. The session was conducted by Dr. Sanjay Sharma, Cardiologist, Neo Hospital. 48 staff members of DGI, Greater Noida attended the session.
The objective of the session was to create an awareness regarding heart disorders such as High Cholesterol, High Blood Pressure, Diabetes and Obesity.
NSS Coordinator Mr. Abhishek Swami introduced Dr. Sanjay Sharma. Then Prof. (Dr.) S K Bagga, Director, DGI, Greater Noida welcomed the Resource Person, Dr. Sanjay Sharma with a bouquet and requested him to initiate the session.Dr. Sharma began the session with the discussion on changing lifestyles of current world, the menace of cancer, diabetes, respiratory and cardiovascular diseases. He said that these lifestyle diseases have become a big concern for India and it is imperative to act now.
Dr. Sharma pointed out that heart diseases are the largest killer worldwide. 12 million people die annually due to the various heart disorders. He focused on the value of heart in human body which pumps 4 to 5 liters of blood every minute. He highlighted the most common risk factors associated with heart disease such as High Cholesterol and High Blood Pressure, Diabetes, Obesity, Alcohol and physical inactivity. He emphasized on performing regular exercises, yoga and meditation for the perfect functioning of heart.
Dr. Sharma concluded his session by answering the queries raised by faculty and staff. The session came to an end with the presentation of memento to Dr. Sharma by Dr. S K Bagga.
