Innovation Boot Camp

Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), Ministry of Education (MoE), Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida organized “Innovation Boot Camp” on 20th - 21st February 2023.
The objective of boot camp was to guide students so that they can transform their innovation into a valid solution.
Day 1: "Tools and Techniques for Patent Filing"
Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), Ministry of Education (MoE), Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida conducted a seminar on “Tools and Techniques for Patent Filing” on 20th February, 2023. 43 students attended the seminar. The speaker of the seminar was Prof. Sanghamitra V. Arora (Head, RDC).
She started the session by explaining about Patents. She explained that a patent is an exclusive right for an invention which could be in the form of product, process or idea and exclude others from using, making or selling it. To get this right, information pertaining to the invention is required to be filed through an application. Moving further, she discussed various tools and techniques available for Patent filing. Patent Filing Process was discussed in detail.
- She illuminated the students that the Inventors can file the patent by themselves or can take the help of any patent filing agency or professional.
- Then, search if the invention is patentable or not.
- The next step in the process of Patent filing includes the drafting of the Patent application. If the invention is in testing stage only, she guided all to go for Provisional Patent Application.
- After drafting, the applicant is required to submit the application along with the requisite fee and also told about the link to be used for same.
- Afterwards, she told about publishing of the patent by the Indian Patent Office (IPO) upon fulfilling certain criteria. The time period for publishing may vary from 1 month to 18 months and after.
- Once the examiner from IPO finds no objection in the patent application, the patent is then published in the official patent gazette.
She also highlighted KAPILA which is one such platform for receiving grant for the patent thus approved by the IPO. She also told about Indian Patent Act 1970 and briefed about its scope.
The seminar was informative and helped the students understand the techniques involved in Patent Filing.
Day 2: Exposure Visit
Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), Ministry of Education (MoE), Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida organized an exposure visit to the "ELECRAMA Expo-2023" on 21st February, 2023 at India Expo Mart, Greater Noida. Shri, RK Singh, Minister of Power, Govt. of India, officially inaugurated the 15th edition of ELECRAMA 2023 on 18th February, 2023. This was the largest solo electrical exhibition in the world. 43 students of B.Tech 3rd year from ECE, EEE, and ECS Department along with faculty member Dr. Hari Mohan Rai, went to the Elecrama Expo 2023 to witness the recent advancements that were on display.
The main objective behind the visit was to acquaint the students with the latest and most cutting-edge technologies in the field of “Electronics and Electricals.”
Over 1500 exhibitors displayed their products and technologies. ELECRAMA is the premier exhibition of the Indian Electrical Industry ecosystem. It is the largest stand-alone show in the electrical and allied equipment industry. In addition, it is the largest transmission and distribution show in the world. It serves as a connection point between India and the rest of the world for the industry. ELECRAMA brings together the full spectrum of solutions that are used to power the planet, from the source all the way to the sockets and everything in between. Featuring not only equipment and technology, but also thought leadership platforms for everything to do with electricity, ranging from technical conclaves to industry summits.
Students were exposed to latest technologies that are being used in the Electrical Industry. Students gained an understanding of the advancements that have been made in Transformers, Transmission Line Towers, Power Electronics, Motors, Lifts & Escalators, Insulators, Industrial Control & Automation Systems, Generators, Cable Accessories, Energy Meter, etc.
Visitors came from all over India and other parts of the world to visit the Hitachi Hi-Rel Booth, which was truly showcasing a "Powerhouse" with its range of power electronic products display, including UPS, VDD and Solar Inverter, amongst others. Key product attractions include the Industrial UPS System – 160 KVA – i4eti Model, the Stallion Battery Charger – 24 VDC, the Low voltage Drives – HIVECTOL HVI E & E2 Series (Prototypes), and the Grid Tied Solar String Inverters – 250 kW, 50 kW, 20 kW, and 3 kW – HIVERTER Si Series.
Students not only gained knowledge about electrical and electronic components, features, products, and services, but also had the opportunity to interact with representatives from a number of companies. In general, the trip exceeded everyone's expectations, and especially for the students, it proved to be an incredible learning opportunity.
