Prime Minister's Special Scholarship Scheme (PMSSS)

One day workshop on Prime Minister's Special Scholarship Scheme (PMSSS) was organized by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) at New Delhi on 18th May 2017. Mr. Gaurav Siwal, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida attended the workshop.
The Agenda of the workshop was to discuss the Role of Faculty Guardians in providing conducive environment for J&K students during their studies.
Faculty members from various institutes attended the workshop. The program started with Saraswati Vandana and welcome address by Prof. Dileep Malkhede, Advisor (RIFD-PMSSS). He said that the Scheme is an initiative from Ministry of Human resource Development especially for Jammu and Kashmir students. The Scheme is implemented by AICTE under the Guidance of Prof. Anil Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, AICTE.
He welcomed all the dignitaries and participants. Prof. Malkhede discussed the Inception and objective of the Scheme, eligibility, scholarship amount and admission process. He also discussed revised features of the scheme for 2017-18 admissions.
The session was then addressed by Mrs. Madhuri Sahasrabudhe, spouse of Prof. Anil Sahasrabudhe. Mrs. Sahasrabudhe discussed the importance of Motherly Relation with students specially those who come from other states to study in various institutes. She shared her experience where a caring gesture by faculty has played an important role in raising the confidence of a student.
Prof. A. P. Mittal, Member Secretary, AICTE and Prof. M. P. Poonia, Vice Chairman, AICTE shared their experience of the recent visit to Jammu and Kashmir where, parents and students from the state discussed issues and grievances about the PMSSS scheme.
Prof. Sahasrabudhe, then addressed the session with his motivational thoughts. Prof. Sahasrabudhe highlighted that special Scholarship Scheme for J&K students is an innovative scheme for empowering the students of J & K by providing them good quality higher education with admission against supernumerary seats in chosen fields of their interest with full scholarship. He said that this engagement will provide young bright students of J&K ample opportunities to find useful employment or to start their own entrepreneurial journey and create jobs. Prof. Sahasrabudhe encouraged faculty members to take initiative in their respective institutes to provide conducive environment to students specially who are benefiting from PMSSS scheme.
Session ended with the Vote of Thanks by Shri. Anand Sharma, Deputy Director (RIFD-PMSSS). Mr. Sharma thanked all the dignitaries, participants and PMSSS team for the successful workshop. The workshop provided volume of information about the PMSSS and the same shall be implemented for the benefits of the aspirants of the scheme.
