Workshop on Emerging Technologies in Electronics and Communication

A one day workshop on Emerging Technologies in Electronics and Communication was organized by Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology, Delhi on 22nd May 2017 Mohd. Alamgir Khan – Assistant Professor, Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida attended the workshop.
The aim of the workshop was to spread the awareness amongst students and the faculties about New Technologies and Research in Electronics and Communication.
Workshop started with the introductory speech by Prof. G. S. Visweswaran, Professor - IIT, Delhi.
Dr. Sujay Deb, Assistant Professor - IIIT Delhi started the first lecture with a lecture on Large Scale many core processors and discussed about the challenges involved in many core processors as power dissipation is a quite a big challenge.
Second Lecture was delivered by Dr. Sanjit Krishnan Kaul, Assistant Professor IIIT-D on Advances in Wireless Communications. He discussed with the history of Wireless Communication and the development in past decade.
Dr. Alexander Fell, Assistant Professor IIIT-D, continued with the third lecture on a project titled A low cost low power Nest monitoring System for snow petrels (snow petrals are the small birds living in Antartica) carried out under him. He made a low cost Detector using Arduino based LDR Sensor.
Last lecture of the first session was delivered by Dr. Shobha Sundar Ram, Assistant Professor IIIT-Delhi. She discussed about her research topic Radar tracking of Human. She has developed a RADAR based technology to detect motion like walking, crawling, running etc. She also shared the results of her findings.
The afternoon Session started with a lecture on Bio Medical Signal Processing by Dr. Anubha Gupta, Associate Professor IIIT - Delhi. She told some important research problems linked as Early Disease Diagnosis, Neuro - Rehablitation, Early Stroke Prediction by ECG Scans etc.
Dr. Sneh Saurabh, Assistant Professor IIIT - Delhi delivered a Lecture on An Overview on Nanoelectronics. He discussed about the Nano - Scale Size, Scanning Tunnel Microscope(STM), TFETs, NCFETs, NEMS etc.
The last and the seventh lecture was delivered by Dr. Saket Anand, Assistant Professor IIIT - Delhi. He discussed an ongoing project Self - Driven car. This is a project under Dr. Saket and funded by Mahindra Motors. He discussed the project progress and the technologies used in it. He also discussed the Driver Less E-Rikshaw, that is also under progress by his team.
Finally, Dr. Anand and Dr. Saurabh concluded the workshop with the Vote of Thanks. Participation Certificates were distributed to participants.
