Coordinators' Workshop on LINUX

A one day Coordinators' Workshop on LINUX was conducted by Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay on 3rd August 2019 at Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida (IITB Remote Centre ID : 1316) and 139 other Remote Centers through A - View. The workshop meant for faculties from technical institutes and schools was organized under the aegis of 'Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching' (PMMMNMTT), funded by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.
Mr. Rajkamal Kishor Gupta from Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida, nominated as the Coordinator, attended the workshop at DGI - Greater Noida.
Inaugurating the workshop, Prof. Kumar Appaiah, Course Coordinator from IIT Bombay briefed the participants about LINUX, which is an operating system that works like Windows and Mac OS. As an operating system, Linux manages all hardware and provides services to other software which they need to run.
Giving a brief of the course, Prof. Kannan Moudgalya - Spoken Tutorial Coordinator, IIT Bombay said that FOSSEE (Free / Libre and Open Source Software for Education) project at IIT Bombay has been promoting LINUX, and other FLOSS software, such as Python, Scilab, OpenFOAM, eSim, Osdag, OpenModelica, DWSIM & R, and Open Source hardware, such as Arduino and OpenPLC.
Prof. Kannan Moudgalya later explained the roles and responsibilities of the RC and WS Coordinators for the Main Workshop on LINUX which is scheduled to be held on 23rd August 2019.
During the successive sessions, participants were explained how to install LINUX, its uses and implementation.
The workshop ended with the Question & Answer and the Valedictory Session.
