Instructor Training Program on CCNA 1&2 (Routing & Switching)
28th November 2016 to 10th December 2016
Instructor Training Program CCNA 1&2 (Routing & Switching) was held at Cisco Networking Academy, Instructor Training Centre, Amrita University, Amritanagar, Coimbatore, during 28th November 2016 to 10th December 2016.
Dr. Somnath Sinha, Assistant Professor of CSE Department, Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida attended the Training Program. 12 other candidates including Vikash K H and Remanikanth S, ACE College of Engineering, Trinvandrum, R Hariharan, College of Engg. & Tech, Dindigul, Veerababu B, Aditya Engg. College, Surampalem, S Surndhar, NPR college of Engg. & Tech Natham and Mr. Hansraj, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon also participated in the training program.
The course was based on two modules.
1. Module 1 – Introduction to Networks
2. Module 2 – Routing and switching Essentials.
The training program was conducted by Mrs. M. Kohila.
Day 1: 28th November 2016
After the inaugural session on the first day Mrs. M. Kohila conducted a pretest examination on fundamentals of Networking. Later she explained Chapters 1 & 2 of Module 1 on Explore the Network and Configure a Network Operating System. She also introduced Simulation Software and Packet Tracer provided by CISCO to make the training more effective.
Day 2: 29th November 2016
On day 2, the examinations for Chapters 1 & 2 were conducted. Mrs. Kohila then completed Chapters 3, 4, 5 & 6 in which she explained Network Protocols and Communications, Network access, Ethernet and Network Layer.
Day 3: 30th November 2016
On day 3, the examinations for Chapters 3, 4, 5 & 6 were conducted. Mrs. Kohila then explained Chapters 7, 8, 9 & 10. In these chapters she covered IP Addressing, Subnetting IP Networks, Transport Layer and Application Layer.
Day 4: 1st December 2016
The examinations on chapters 7, 8, 9 & 10 were held. After the examination, Mrs. Kohila explained chapter 11 where she discussed how to build a small network.
Day 5: 2nd December 2016
Two examinations were conducted, one based on chapter 11 and the final examination. The training session on Module 1 started with the practical of PC, Router and Switch where the participants were trained on how to configure and take the backup using Putty and Tera Term.
Day 6: 3rd December 2016
Three examinations on Packet Tracer, Subnetting and Hands on skill were conducted. All the examinations were of 100 marks and duration of 2 hours.
After the examination, the Packet Tracer software provided by CISCO was explained. The practical session was aided with rich lab facilities.
Day 7: 5th December 2016
Mrs. Kohila started Module 2. She completed Chapters 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5 of this module. In this session she introduced Switched Networks, Basic Switching Concepts and Configurations, VLANs, Routing Concept, Inter-VLAN Routing. After the theory class two examinations on Chapters 1 & 2 were conducted.
Day 8: 6th December 2016
Mrs. Kohila explained Chapter 6, 7, 8 & 9 of Module 2. Here she explained Static Routing Concept, Dynamic Routing, Single Area Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) and access control lists mechanism. The examinations on Chapters 3, 4 & 5 were also held.
Day 9: 7th December 2016
Mrs. Kohila completed Chapters 10 & 11. In these chapters she described Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) and Network Address Translation for IPv4. Then the examinations on Chapters 6, 7 & 8 were conducted.
Day 10: 8th December 2016
The remaining examinations on chapters 9, 10 & 11 were conducted. It was followed by practical sessions on real scenario using switch and router.
Day 11: 9th December 2016
The final examination was conducted with teach back session. For teach back session individual topics were given to all the trainee and they were asked to deliver their topic through presentation.
Day 12: 10th December 2016
Two examinations were conducted on Packet Tracer and on Hands on Skill. All the examinations were of 100 marks and of 3 hours.
The Instructor Training Program on CCNA 1&2 (Routing & Switching) ended on 10th December 2016 with the address by Mr. Sreevalson, Legal Main Contact, Cisco Instructor Training Center. Mr. sreevalson explained the importance of CCNA courses for the students. He also explained the NETACAD site and its utility for conducting different types of courses by CISCO e.g. courses on C++, Linux, Cyber Security etc.
