3 Days Workshop on
Survey Camp Using Total Station
November 9th - 11th, 2016
Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida in association with Civil Simplified and Skyfi Lab, Bangaloreunder the banner of AGI organized a three day Workshop on “Survey Camp Using Total Station from 9th to 11th November, 2016. 30 students from Civil Engineering Branch participated in the workshop. Mr. Sarvagya Tripathi, Asst. Prof. from Department of Civil Engineering coordinated the workshop.
Day 1: 9th November 2016
The first day sessions were divided into two parts. The first session started with the presentation by the trainer Mr. Niranjan Yadav. He emphasized on the theoretical part of the session including the basics of surveying, principle and classification of surveying, understanding of coordinate system and overview of surveying. Theoretical aspects of GIS were also covered.
During the post lunch session, students were given a lab session on Quanta GIS 14 Software by another trainer Mr. Vasanth. Importing the field survey data in csv format, orientation of map element such as sign symbol, direction symbol, name etc. on a map layout were covered in this session.
Day 2: 10th November 2016
On the second day field survey using Total Station was conducted. Temporary adjustment such as centering, leveling, focusing and removing parallax of total station and various parts of Total Station and their use were explained by the trainers during field surveying.
Job assigning, process to find coordinates of a point with reference point and outer area calculation of campus building were done by the students. Feature of open and close traverse and error adjustment of close traverse by Bowditch Formula of filed data were also discussed in the second session.
Day 3: 11th November 2016
On the third day activity started with job assigning to each student. Stacking out the data on field with reference of one known point, remote height calculation of college canteen and building were done.
Depression or ditch volume calculations by using Quanta GIS 14 software with the help of field measured reduced level were discussed in this session. In the last session, the workshop trainer gave assignment to each student and guided how to access online study material.
The survey camp came to an end with Vote of Thanks by Prof. D V Bhise, HOD (ME).
Students learnt the practical aspect of surveying during the three day workshop.
