Orientation Programme
22nd and 23rd August 2025
Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida, extended a warm and inspiring welcome to the first-year B. Tech students of Batch 2025–2029 and MBA students of Batch 2025–2027 during the two-day Orientation Programme held on 22nd and 23rd August 2025. The event was thoughtfully designed to familiarize the new students with the college’s academic framework, core values, innovation culture, and the transformative journey that awaited them at DGI.
The faculty coordinators for the programme were Prof. (Dr.) Pawan Kumar Sharma (HoD, First Year Department) and Dr. Mamta Bhardwaj (APS Department), who ensured that every segment of the event reflected DGI’s vision of blending knowledge, discipline, and creativity. The entire campus was beautifully decorated with colorful rangolis, fresh flowers, and welcome banners, creating an atmosphere of festivity and belonging.
Day 1 - A Traditional and Academic Beginning
The inaugural day of the Orientation Programme began with an auspicious “Vidyaarambh Sanskar–Hawan” at the Maa Saraswati Sthanam, where students and faculty members offered prayers to Goddess Saraswati for knowledge, wisdom, and enlightenment. The sacred ceremony symbolized the start of a lifelong journey of learning and reflected the institution’s commitment to integrating traditional values with modern education.
The formal ceremony commenced in the Main Auditorium with a warm welcome address by Prof. Ayushi Jaiswal, followed by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by dignitaries including the Director, Registrar, Heads of Departments, and Dean of Students’ Welfare. The students performed a soulful Saraswati Vandana, setting an atmosphere of reverence and positivity.
The Chief Guest for the first day was Prof. (Dr.) P. Jayarekha, Professor, Department of Information Science and Engineering, BMSCE, Bengaluru, and the Guest of Honour was Mr. Pankaj Mishra, Founder & Director, PND Group, PND Maritime Pvt. Ltd. Both dignitaries delivered insightful talks encouraging students to approach their academic journey with curiosity, perseverance, and innovative thinking. They emphasized the importance of creativity and communication skills in achieving excellence in the fast-evolving world of technology and entrepreneurship.
The day also featured the introduction of the leadership team - Chairman Dr. Satish Yadav, Director, Prof. (Dr.) Sangeeta Mangesh, Registrar, Prof. (Dr.) Shailesh Kumar Singh, Dean (Students’ Welfare), Prof. (Dr.) Ritu Soryan, and the Heads of Departments. This session acquainted the students with the mentors and administrative heads who will guide them throughout their academic journey. The day concluded with a gesture of appreciation, as students received souvenirs marking their first day at college — a token of belonging and pride in joining the DGI family.
Day 2 - Insights, Innovation, and Inspiration
The second day of the Orientation Programme began with a traditional tilak ceremony by NSS Volunteers, extending a warm welcome to the distinguished guests and new students. The Chief Guest for the day was Mr. Abhijit Kotnis, President and COO, Dixon Technologies (India) Ltd., while the Special Guest was Dr. Kiranpreet Kaur, Chief of People, CPM India, and author of “HR Rewired – AI, AGI, and ASI Transforming HR Forever.” The Esteemed Guest was Ms. Farheen Hassan, Associate Director–HR at Rapidflow Inc.
The guests shared profound insights on the changing landscape of technology and innovation. They highlighted the role of engineers and managers as problem solvers and innovators in today’s digital age. Their talks inspired students to develop leadership qualities, resilience, and an entrepreneurial mindset.
The day continued with interactive sessions led by Heads of Departments, providing detailed insights into the academic structure, curriculum, and support systems available for students. Prof. (Dr.) Ritu Soryan, Dean Students’ Welfare, also introduced students to the concept of Universal Human Values, emphasizing empathy, teamwork, and holistic growth as essential components of success.
Technical and Skill-Building Workshops
Aligned with IIC’s objective of fostering innovation, creativity, and hands-on learning, the Orientation Programme featured several technical workshops designed to engage students in practical applications of engineering and technology. Activities included:
- Kickstart to Robotics – Building the Future
- Smart Switches – The Future of Smart Living
- Wings of Changes – Drones Shaping Our World
- Cast to Create – Where Metal Meets Imagination
- Hydrobotics – Robotic Arms from Scratch
- Meet with Apple – Introductory iOS Lab
- Certification Course by IIT Bombay
These workshops, coordinated by expert faculty members and student leaders, helped students develop technical proficiency, teamwork, and problem-solving skills while experiencing DGI’s culture of innovation and applied learning.
Cultural Extravaganza and Closing Ceremony
The final segment of the orientation was marked by a grand cultural celebration titled “Wings of Petals and Dreams.” Students from various departments showcased their talents through captivating performances of dance, music, and drama, highlighting the spirit of creativity and diversity at DGI. The event concluded with a symbolic drone display — one drone carrying a welcome banner of DGI flying over the crowd while another released rose petals, symbolizing the institution’s fusion of tradition and technology. The joyous atmosphere and vibrant performances reflected the enthusiasm, unity, and passion of the new batch.
The Orientation Programme 2025 successfully fulfilled its purpose of welcoming new students, introducing them to DGI’s academic and innovation ecosystem, and encouraging them to explore their potential with confidence and curiosity. Through a blend of cultural, technical, and interactive activities, the programme set a strong foundation for their academic and professional journey, motivating them to become innovators, leaders, and changemakers of tomorrow.
Objective: To welcome and familiarize new students with the institutional environment, culture of innovation, and academic structure while inspiring them to pursue excellence in education and creativity.
Benefit: The programme strengthened the bond between students and the institution, fostered a spirit of collaboration and innovation, and instilled motivation, curiosity, and a sense of belonging among the new batch of students at Dronacharya Group of Institutions.
