Technovation Hackathon 2019
26th - 27th January 2019
To commemorate its 28th Foundation Day, Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) organized Greater Noida Carnival 2019 during 25th - 28th January 2019. As part of the celebration, a 24 Hours Technovation Hackathon was conducted at Sharda University on 26th - 27th January 2019, seeking solution to four problem statements :
- Security and Surveillance in Greater Noida City
- Waste Management
- Energy Efficiency and Green Energy
- Smart Transportation and Traffic Management
Elaborating on the initiative, Shri Narendra Bhooshan, IAS, CEO, GNIDA said, “Technovation Hackathon aims at discovering innovative ideas from young minds to the problems of the society. The students presented ideas for appropriate waste management and disposal, including energy generation, volume minimization, and incorporation into useful products which can be viable and environment - friendly. Themes like management of our energy resources by making the existing sources more efficient and switching to greener energy options to the extent possible, is the need of the day. An emerging city like Greater Noida can make its own contribution in this area. The students at the Technovation Hackathon presented ingenious projects to cope up with these issues.”
Shri Krishna Kumar Gupta, ACEO, GNIDA and Shri C.M. Tripathi, GM, GNIDA said, “Smart transportation was the focus area for Greater Noida. The ideas presented by the students will benefit the citizens by providing access to safe, affordable and sustainable transportation systems, including e-mobility, Electric Vehicles (EVs), Mass Transport, Rapid Transport, and Self-driven Vehicles”.
5 students from the Department of Computer Science Engineering, Dronacharya Group of Institutions (Dravid Nagi, Chandni, Hitrishna, Swati Sethi and Bandeep Kaur) participated under the theme Waste Management which they developed under the guidance of Mr. Bipin Pandey (HOD-CSE). The DGI Team won the Second Prize and received a cash award of Rs. 20,000.
Prof. (Dr.) Ashish Soti, Hon’ble Director - DGI, congratulated the team members on their victory and encouraged them to make their knowledge count on many more such platforms.
