NPTEL : SPOC FELICITATION CUM AWARENESS WORKSHOP

A one day Felicitation Cum Awareness Workshop of NPTEL SPOCs was conducted at Outreach Auditorium, IIT KANPUR on Saturday, 19th January 2019 for the existing and newly created Local Chapters.
Mr. Rajat Kumar, Assistant Professor attended the workshop on behalf of Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida.
Inaugurating the workshop, Prof. Vineet Kansal, Dean UG, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow said that NPTEL is a smart learning platform which helps students to access quality material of any subject. He advised that it should be used for reference and not as a replacement of teachers and other traditional methods used for teaching. He asked the teachers to refer NPTEL as it helps teachers and educators to get access to quality content. Prof. Kansal informed that AKTU is planning to introduce more subjects through Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs).
Prof. Satyaki Roy, National Coordinator, NPTEL made a presentation on recent progress of NPTEL platform and informed about the changes made and the introduction of the new category in results in the form of silver medal. Prof. Satyaki Roy asked the colleges to motivate their students and help them reap the benefits of NPTEL Courses.
Mrs. Angana Sengupta, Local Chapter Coordinator - NPTEL, informed the audience about the new rating criteria for a mentor certificate, dynamic fee introduction and other modification in the rules.
Several SPOCs shared their experiences and challenges faced by them at their respective colleges.
After the presentation sessions, certificates for Mentors and SPOCs were distributed by Prof. Satyaki Roy.
Prof. Vineet Kansal called a separate meeting of all AKTU affiliated colleges’ SPOCs for discussion on courses conducted through MOOC from NPTEL and asked for suggestions on other courses which can be introduced through such platforms.

The workshop ended with the Valedictory Session followed by singing of National Anthem.
