A One Day Panel Discussion On International Best Practices of Academia Corporate Interface in Research and Innovation was held during Higher Education Forum-India 2019, organized by PHDCCI in association with Canada India Foundation at PHD House, New Delhi on 17th January, 2019. Dr Azad Singh, Assistant Professor (MGT) along with students Ms. Tanya Yadav (MGT) and Ms. Mahima Narula (MGT) attended the same.
The panelists included representatives from Canadian and Indian Educational Institutions, Government officials and representatives from Canadian and Indian private sector corporate. The forum was Mr. Nishant Berlia (Chairman, Education Committee PHDCCI) formally started the session with his keynote address, Further remarks were delivered by:
- Mr. Pankaj Dave (Co-Convener Canada India Foundation),
- Dr. Rubina Mittal (Co-Chairperson, Education Committee, PHDCCI) and
- Dr. Vishwa Mohan Bansal (Co-Chairperson, Education Committee, PHDCCI).
Mr. Pankaj Dave addressed the various issue in order to strengthen education linkages and cooperation between Canadian and India Higher Education Institutions and discussed government’s initiatives in shaping higher education.
Dr. Rubina Mittal focused on how the academician should encourage students to work towards Research & Innovation. She advised to breakdown complex things to molecular level so that research become more simple.
After the compilation of key note, power panel discussion was started, headed by Mr. Nirav Bhatt, (Barrister & Solicitor, Astha Lawyers) and other key panelist explained and shared their views on emerging issues in Academia and Industry relation and development. Mr. Nirav also briefed about Immigration issues between India and Canada and shared his group Astha Lawyers experience and expertise with the audience.
The major point of Panel Discussion was to develop Interconnectivity between Research, Innovation, Technology, Enterprise and Education in international framework between India and Canada and further understand the future direction within the same line.
The forum further discussed about how education needs to change to reflect the needs of the industry. Dr. H Purushotham highlighted the major burning issues in Intellectual Property and provided a brief overview on National Research Development Corporation and its services.
Prof. Bihu Biswal discussed how we can build a bridge between Indian Academia and Industry by providing few previous years examples like Cluster Innovation Center and highlighted why this kind of program generally fail.
The forum further headed by Ms. Nivedita Das Kundu and Ms. Chetna Desai focused on the recent issued in Indian Academia and said that there are no such kind of long term program which is running with the help or collaboration of academia and industry together.
Dr. S K Salwan asked all academician to encourage their students to indulge in more research and innovation and advice and guide them for Starts Ups.
The event came to an end with the formal interactions and high tea.
