Workshop on Virtual Lab

Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering, Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida organized a Workshop on ‘Virtual Labs’ on 10th April 2015. The objective of the workshop was to create awareness of Virtual Labs among students and faculty members. The faculty members from Feroze Gandhi Institute of Engineering and Technology, Raebareli, ACCMAN Institute of Management, Greater Noida along with DGI Staff Members attended the workshop. Mr. Tanmay Tarun Das, Outreach-In-Charge, IIT, Delhi, Mr. Bhairab Patra, CSE/IT V-Lab Mentor, IIT Delhi, and Mr. Sajeev Soni, ECE/EEE V-Lab Mentor, IIT Delhi were the Resource persons for the workshop.
The event began with the floral welcome of Mr. Tanmay Tarun Das, Mr. Bhairab Patra and Mr. Sajeev Soni by Prof. S.K. Bagga, Director, DGI, Greater Noida, and Prof B. L. Kaul, Registrar, DGI, Greater Noida.
The first Technical Session began with the presentation of brief overview of National impact of Virtual Lab on students and teachers by Mr. Tanmay Tarun Das. He also discussed the daily usage and benefits of Virtual Labs. He explained the role and importance of Virtual Labs in bridging the gap between the syllabi of Technical Universities and existing Labs.
The second speaker, Mr. Sajeev Soni, demonstrated the experiment of Chemical and Physical Science like Acid Base Titration and Photo Electric Effect for the students of 1st year CSE/IT and EEE/ECE. He also discussed the uses of Virtual lab in their courses. The same experiments were demonstrated for ME/CE 1st year students also. Online feedbacks were sought by the students.
During the post Lunch Session, Mr. Bhairab Patra demonstrated the experiments of Data Structure and Computer Programming like Expression Evaluation using Stacks, Sorting using Arrays and Basic Control Flow for 2nd and 3rd Year students of CSE/IT and ECE/EEE.
The session came to an end with a series of questions from the participants which were answered by the experts. The experts welcomed the suggestions of the faculty members of various Institutes for improvement of V-Labs.
The workshop came to an end with presentation of memento to the resource persons by Honorable Director, Prof. (Dr.) S.K. Bagga. Ms. Sarika Agarwal, Assistant Professor, DGI, Greater Noida rendered the Vote of Thanks.
