Industrial Visit @ BSES Yamuna Power Ltd.
31st October 2025
IEEE Student Chapter of Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida, organized a one-day industrial visit to BSES Yamuna Power Ltd, Delhi, on 31st October 2025. A total of thirty-one students from Departments of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Electronics and Computer Science (ECS), and Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) participated in the visit. The students were accompanied and guided by Ms. Anuradha Yadav, Assistant Professor (ECE/EEE/ECS).
The visit aimed to provide students with firsthand exposure to the practical aspects of power distribution systems, supplementing their theoretical knowledge with real-world industrial experience.
BSES Yamuna Power Limited (BYPL) is one of the leading electricity distribution companies in Delhi, jointly owned by Reliance Infrastructure Limited and the Government of NCT of Delhi. The visit offered students valuable insights into how a large-scale power distribution organization operates to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply to millions of consumers.
During the session, students were introduced to various aspects of power distribution such as the structure and operation of substations, transmission lines, and distribution networks. They also learned about load management techniques, fault detection, and fault-handling mechanisms adopted by the company. Additionally, the team gained an understanding of safety protocols, transmission systems, and the use of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems for monitoring and controlling the electrical grid.
During their interactions with BSES engineers, students learned about techniques to reduce energy losses, strategies for balancing loads during peak hours, and the growing importance of integrating renewable energy sources into the power grid. The visit proved to be highly beneficial as it gave students a practical understanding of how electricity is distributed from grid substations to end consumers.
In conclusion, the industrial visit to BSES Yamuna Power Ltd, was an enriching experience that successfully connected theoretical concepts with practical applications. The visit enhanced the students’ technical knowledge, analytical skills, and awareness of real-world challenges in the power sector. It also motivated them to explore future career opportunities in electrical, electronics, and energy-related fields.
