Celebration of Engineers' Day
15th September, 2018
On the occasion of Engineers' Day, Department of ECE & EEE in association with DGI-IEEE Student Branch organized DronaTronix-2018 to celebrate the life of Bharat Ratna, Sir Mokshagundam Vishweshvaraya. The event was organized on 15th September 2018 and was attended by students and faculty members of all the departments, CSE, IT, CSIT, ECE, EEE, CE, ME, APS and MBA.
Inauguration
The event began with the floral welcome of Honorable Chief Guest Dr. (Mrs.) Parveen Dhamija, Advisor, Skill Council for Green Jobs, New Delhi by Prof. (Dr.) Ashish Soti, Honorable Director, DGI. In his welcome address, Prof. Soti remembered the legacy of Sir Mokshagundam Vishweshvaraya and laid emphasis on the roles and duties of engineers in changing this world for the better. Prof. B. L. Kaul, Honorable Registrar, DGI in his address said that the budding engineers must learn from the life of Sir Mokshagundam Vishweshvaraya and accordingly contribute to the society.
A presentation on Bharat Ratna Sir Mokshagundam Vishweshvaraya’s life, achievements and work was also made by the students.
Sir M Vishveshvaraya Memorial Talk
Honorable Chief Guest, Dr. Dhamija delivered the inaugural Sir M Vishveshvaraya Memorial Talk. She remembered the contribution of Sir M Vishveshvaraya for his brilliant contribution in development of India. She then addressed the audience on "Engineering Challenges for Knowledge Era". She said that engineers play a significant role in the development of the country and added that India has a huge opportunity within engineering services and offers the best combination of low costs, availability of skills and capabilities of manpower for the engineering sector. India, she said, stands poised to emerge as a leading nation in the 21st century by virtue of our achievements in multiple fields. She said that the modern definition of an engineer is a dreamer, inventor, creator, innovator, researcher and problem solver.
During her talk, Dr.Dhamija stressed upon Renewable Energy, Green Business Sector and also explained the role of National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF). She motivated and urged the budding engineers to explore the area of renewable energy and sustainable development which will help them in not only getting an employment but in building the society and the nation as well.
She concluded her talk with the quote: "To give real service, you must add something, which cannot be bought or measured with money".
The Neophyte Perspective - Debate Competition
The Neophyte Perspective - Debate Competition started in full swing and the motion was "Automation : Boon or Bane". A total of 12 participants showed their debating mettle. 6 participants were debating in favor of the motion and 6 participants were debating against the motion. The debate was moderated by CSE Final Year Student Apratim Singh.
In the first round each participant put forward their views on the motion individually for 5 minutes. In the second round all the participants debated further on the motion with arguments and counter arguments. The event was judged by Dr S. K. Srivastava, Professor, Department of APS, Ms. Honey Gupta, Assistant Professor, Department of MBA and Mr. Ravi Prakash Verma, Assistant Professor, Department of ECE.
The following students were adjudged the winners:
- Gold Medal - Shiv Arora, CSE 4th Year
- Silver Medal - Shivanshu Singh, APS, 1st Year
- Bronze Medal - Tarun, CSE, 2nd Year
The Humble Encephalon : Quiz Competition
The Humble Encephalon - Quiz Competition witnessed participation from 6 teams comprising of 4 members each. The Quiz Competition had five rounds Techwiz, Enigma, Minute To Win It, Pictionary and Brain Age. There were many nail biting moments in the competition and all the teams battled their heart out to win the gold.
Eventually the results were as following:
- Gold Medal - Team CSE/IT/CSIT - Tanish Saxena (3rd Year), Sunny Singh (3rd Year), Sudhanshu Ranjan (4th Year) and Sahil Rajput (4th Year)
- Silver Medal - Team ECE/EEE - Om Prakash Pokhriyal (2nd Year), Abhishek Mishra (2nd Year), Muskan Khemka (3rd Year) and Saurabh Kumar (4th Year)

The Rhymester of Techville - Technical Poem Recitation
The Rhymester of Techville - Technical Poem Recitation witnessed participation from 7 enthusiastic students, who enthralled the audience with their awesome creativity. The event was judged by Mr. Devangi Grover, Assistant Professor, Department of APS, Ms. Swati Verma, Department of CE and Ms. Ekta Singh, Assistant Professor, Department of APS.
The following students were adjudged the winners:
- Gold Medal - Divya Chaturvedi, CE 3rd Year
- Silver Medal - Shubham Kumar, CSE 2nd Year
- Bronze Medal - Muskan Khemka, ECE 3rd Year
Valediction
All the winners were felicitated with medals and certificates by Prof. Soti and Prof. Kaul. They also congratulated the organizing team for hosting a successful event.
The event concluded with the Vote of Thanks by Mr. Probeer Sahw, HOD - ECE & EEE and Coordinator DGI-IEEE Student Branch. He expressed his gratitude towards Dr. Dhamija for honoring the event by consenting to be the chief guest on the occasion. He also thanked the organizing team for their painstaking efforts to make the event a successful event.
