Boot Camp on "New Product Development"

In the ever-evolving landscape of business and technology, the importance of creating innovative products that cater to the needs of the market cannot be overstated. To instill an entrepreneurial mindset and equip students with the skills required for successful product development, the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), Ministry of Education (MoE), of Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida organized a comprehensive three-day bootcamp titled "New Product Development" held from 3rd - 5th August, 2023, under the guidance of Dr. Sahab Singh.
The bootcamp aimed to guide participants through the various stages of conceiving, researching, and presenting new product ideas.
Day 1: Workshops for Ideation and Conceptualization (August 3rd, 2023):
The bootcamp kicked off with an array of workshops that sparked creativity and encouraged participants to think outside the box. The bootcamp commenced with an introductory speech from Prof. Sanghamitra V Arora, IIC Convenor. Dr. Sahab Singh shared his insights on innovation, market trends, and the ideation process. Through interactive sessions, participants were exposed to techniques such as design thinking, brainstorming and mind mapping to generate and refine their product ideas. The day was also characterized by group activities that promote collaboration and the cultivation of diverse perspectives.
Day 2: Navigating the Research Phase (August 4th, 2023):
With a solid foundation in ideation, the focus shifted to the crucial step of conducting thorough research to validate and refine the proposed product concepts. Sessions on market research, consumer behavior, and competitive analysis helped students delve into the intricacies of collecting and analyzing data. Participants learned how to identify target audiences, assess market demand, and recognize potential challenges. By the end of the day, participants were equipped with the knowledge and tools necessary to make informed decisions regarding the viability of their product ideas.
Day 3: Presentations and Pitching (August 5th, 2023):
Each group of participants presented their refined product concepts before a panel of judges. These presentations were a testament to the skills and insights gained over the course of the bootcamp. Participants not only outlined their product ideas but also substantiated them with compelling market research data. The judges provided valuable feedback, providing an environment of constructive critique and learning.
The three-day event provided a structured approach to product development, spanning from ideation and research to the critical skill of effective presentation. Attendees left the bootcamp armed with not only theoretical knowledge but also practical insights and tools necessary to embark on their own product development journeys.
The bootcamp ended with a vote of thanks from Prof. Sanghamitra V Arora, IIC Convenor.
