One-day Pilot Workshop on DSpace

National Virtual Library of India (NVLI), funded by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, conducted an online one-day pilot workshop on “DSpace: Digital Repository System” on February 13, 2021 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Professor Kannan Moudgalya PI, NVLI and Spoken Tutorial Project, the workshop's course coordinator, gave a welcome address.
This workshop was only open to those who had been invited. The invitation link for online registration was sent by IIT Bombay. This workshop was held for two separate groups of people. This was limited to the Librarians/ library staff and system administrators from each institution.
Mr. Rakesh Kumar, Assistant Librarian and Mr. Bharat Bhushan, System Administrator from Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida attended the online session. All the registered participants attended the workshop from their convenient place. Virtual classroom systems were used to interact with participants. There were live video interactions and Spoken Tutorial sessions during the workshop. During the Spoken Tutorial sessions, participants were expected to learn DSpace using a side by side method. There was a separate classroom created for two different audiences (librarian & system administrators) during the practice sessions in the workshop.

- Item Review in DSpace
- Batch import of Items
After successfully completion of the workshop, librarians are capable to provide accessed to users using standard protocol. Now they can organize digital contents in hierarchical manner and can manage user authorizations to content in digital repository. And System Administrators would be able to Install DSpace on Windows 10 / Ubuntu Linux 18.04 Operating Systems, configure email settings of DSpace to send/receive emails and customise DSpace User Interface.
The participants had a great opportunity to learn about the DSpace open source repository software package.
