INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHT AWARENESS PROGRAM
28th April 2022
On the occasion of World IP Day and to celebrate IP literacy week under the Kalam Program for Intellectual Property Literacy and Awareness Campaign (KAPILA), Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida hosted an online Intellectual Property Right Awareness Program on 28th April 2022. The program was attended by 300 participants.
The aim of the program was to spread awareness through educational programs about the importance of patenting an invention, which eventually will lead India towards self-reliance.
The session was started by Dr.(Prof) K.K.Saini (Director) where he highlighted the importance of innovative ideas and how they can be protected by IPR. The esteemed speaker, Mr. Rahul Dhakad (Examiner of Patents and Design, NIPAM officer), enlightened the participants about the trademarks and geographical indicators, patents and designs. He provided detailed information about what can be patented, the importance of trademarks and trade secrets in ensuring significant brand presence and market share towards economic advantage. He elaborated different examples of trademarks and trade secrets in the fast-moving consumer goods domain as well as different machine designs that have been protected by innovators like Apple, LG, Siemens and Nokia through Intellectual property rights. Intellectual property is a category of property which includes intangible creations of the human intellect, and primarily encompasses copyrights, patents, and trademarks. It also includes other types of rights, such as trade secrets, publicity rights, moral rights, and rights against unfair competition.
The session was informative and covered various aspects of IPR. The students as well as the faculty of the college became aware on how IPR restricts copying others ideas and how this will help the development of new ideas for the betterment of the society. Students learnt how IPR provides total control over a new innovation and its creator.
