Master Training Workshop for Spoken Tutorial

The Master Training Workshop on Spoken Tutorial was organized by Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow at its Noida Campus, in collaboration with IIT Bombay on 19th January 2018. The objective of the workshop was to spread awareness about Spoken Tutorial courses. 60 Faculties from various colleges affiliated to AKTU, Lucknow attended the workshop. Mr. Manoj Kumar Yadav, Assistant Professor in Computer Science and Engineering from Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida attended the workshop.
The session was inaugurated by Dr. Vineet Kansal, Dean, UG & Entrepreneurship, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University. Dr. Kansal advocated good quality education in India through skill development. He said that the quality of higher education can be enhanced through MOOCs.
Sharing the overview of the workshop, Ms. Neha Srivastava, Training Coordinator, Spoken Tutorial, IIT Bombay said that Spoken Tutorial is an initiative of National Mission on Education through ICT, MHRD, Govt. of India to promote IT literacy through Open Source Software which is being developed by IIT Bombay.
Ms. Srivastava stressed that learning is more effective when animation and narration are presented simultaneously. Audio - video demonstrations can illustrate features with maximum clarity. She discussed Free Open Source Software (FOSS) through which students and faculty can learn the application of any software.
Highlighting the effectiveness of Spoken Tutorial, Ms. Srivastava said that about 4.32 lakh participants have been trained for Spoken Tutorial courses and over 230 colleges have been registered as its partner.
During the lab session the faculty were given hands on practice on registration process and how to add an organizer and also how to add batches for training and certification. She explained the procedure to fill the Tracking and Monitoring Sheet. Participants got the first-hand information about applications of the software in real life. Hands - on - training instilled confidence in them about of Spoken Tutorial.
Based on the feedback from the participants, Dr. Kansal was of the view that the Spoken tutorial project should be included as a part of E-Learning Resources of AKTU.
The workshop ended with formal interactions.
