Urgent needs for women Healthcare and Hygiene in India at nearby adopted villages
9th December 2021
Women Development Cell and NSS Cell, Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida, organized a session on “Breaking the Taboo: Urgent Need for Women's Healthcare and Hygiene in India at adopted village Gari Samastpur” under the guidance of Dr. Mamta Bhardwaj. The session aimed to educate the village women and girls on the importance of menstrual health and hygiene. Prof. Mamta cited a National Family Health Organization (March 2021) survey, which found that only 14% of women in India use sanitary napkins, while the rest rely on unsafe alternatives, increasing health risks. She emphasized that poor sanitation not only affects health but also limits women’s education and economic opportunities.
She stressed the need for awareness campaigns and sex education to break the stigma surrounding menstruation. Promoting women’s healthcare requires joint efforts from both men and women to create a supportive workplace and society. Education remains the key to achieving gender equality.
The session concluded with a, who encouraged everyone to take individual steps in addressing women’s healthcare issues and changing societal perceptions about hygiene.
