NATIONAL WORKSHOP ON CNC MACHINES AND ROBOTICS [CMR-2015]
15th -19th JUNE 2015
Department of Manufacturing Engineering of Anna University and MTab conducted a National Level Workshop on CNC Machines and Robotics during 15th-19th June 2015 at ANNA University, Chennai to focus on understanding CNC Programming in multiple perspectives to use industrial robotics and acquaint with recent developments. Prof. T. Bothichandar, Department of Mechanical Engineering from Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noidaattended the workshop.
The program was inaugurated on 15th June 2015. The resource persons of the programme were:
1. Mr. Gnanaseker Baburao, Director of Industrial Safety and Health, Government of Tamil Nadu.
2. M. C. Sambantham, Additional Director of Industrial Safety and Health.
3. Mr. S. Anand, Joint Director of Industrial Safety and Health, Tamil Nadu.
4. Mr. SaiRam, Technical Director in MTAB Chennai Division, Chennai.
5. Prof. (Dr). Hariharan, Head of Department of Manufacturing Engineering of Anna University.
Mr. Gnanaseker BabuRao, Director of Industrial Safety and Health started the session. He introduced the concepts which was a brief overview on the CNC Machine and Industrial Automation in mind set and its discussion widely used in the Research. Further it was followed by Mr. S. Anand, Joint Director of Industrial Safety and Health, who discussed about safety of CNC Machine, Industrial Robotic, Robotic Accident and along with a case study.
In the second session Prof. ( Dr). Hariharan, HOD of Department of Manufacturing Engineering, Anna University, delivered an informative lecture on the topic “ Introduction to CNC and its CNC CAM Software”.
In the third session Dr. Pradeep Kumar, Professor, Mechanical Engineering Department, Anna University, talked about the basic concepts of Coordinate System, its positioning reference point system, incremental system, G-codes and M-codes.
In the fourth session Mr. K. Deepak, Application Engineer in MTab, discussed ECNC software and the use of learnosphere at Mtab Organization.
On 16th June 2015, the second day of workshop, the program started with the lecture of Prof. (Dr.) S. Rajendra Boopathy,Department of Mechanical Engineering, Anna University. He briefly explained the basic concepts of CNC Devices and its Controls, its guideways, types of CNC Machines, Tool used in APT, Control system, Motion system etc.
Next session was followed by Prof. ( Dr). Hariharan, he delivered a lecture on the topic “CNC Turning Technology, CADEM and Ncyclo Turn V3.0 etc. It brought us a lot of interest in constructional features of CNC Machine, Torque Transmission Elements, as to learn the concepts and features of CNC Machine beyond the boundaries of syllabus confined .
The third and fourth session was followed by Mr. K. Deepak, Application Engineer in MTab, discussed ECNC software and how to use the learnosphere at Mtab Organization. Mr. Deepak clearly explained ECNC software in interactive and interaction manner. It was followed by question and answer session. Finally the session ended with discussion on tutorial problems.
On 17th June 2015, third day of workshop, the program started by Mr. Deepak who explained the CNC Tooling System and how to get learners more involved in using friendly ECNC software.
In the next session Mr. R G Chakrapani, Managing Director, Gem Machining Centre (P) Ltd., Chennai, discussed CNC Machine Introductions, their types, and axis. He also mentioned the ways to achieve accuracy and precession by Machines and its examples mentioning different Manufacturing Companies in the world.
On 18th June 2015, fourth day of the workshop, Prof. ( Dr). Hariharan, HOD, Department of Manufacturing Engineering, Anna University, delivered a lecture on Introduction to Robotics. He discussed very fundamental things about robot components, robot anatomy, drives and controls and end effectors etc. It was a session in the international robotics and virtual lab in robotics.
In the next session Prof. Muralidharan, Department of Mechatronics, MIT Campus, Anna University, Chennai, discussed sensors in robotics, characteristics of robotics, and micro electro mechanical system .
The third and fourth session was followed by Ms. Anu and Mr. Mohanraj, Application Engineer in MTab, discussed Industrial automation, automation studio and simulation software.
In the Next session a visit to MTab Company, Chennai was arranged under the supervision of Mr. R. Fredrick Basker, Business Head. Mr. Arivind Kumar, Technical Head, briefed about different CNC Lathe Machine, Milling Machine, Drilling Machine operations in the workshop. He also explained the function of CNC VMC and Industrial Robots.
On 19th June 2015, last day of the workshop, Mr. M Sugavaneswaran, Ph. D, Scholar, Anna University, delivered a presentation on Robot Kinematics. He discussed fundamental on Introduction to Mechanics, forward and inverse kinematics and parameters. In the next session Mr. A. R. Subramani, Technical and Business Head, Fanuc India, Chennai, discussed on application of Robot in Manufacturing Industry. He also mentioned the Robotics, characteristics of robotics, basic construction, controller and embedded system.
During the last valedictory session, Mr. T S Mohanasunduram, Vice Prisident, Sungwoo-Hi Tech India Ltd., was invited as chief guest of the programme. The Guest of Honour of this event was Ms. Sasi Sai Ram, Chief Executive Officer in MTAB Chennai Division, Chennai. Prof. (Dr). Hariharan, HOD of Department of Manufacturing Engineering, Anna University was the Organizing Coordinator of the event the vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Suresh Babu.
Internationally automation is playing an increasing role in the industry field, so that good quality education can be accessed by people everywhere, including Faculty’s. Besides mentoring the next generation of technology icons, thereby making India a key player in global knowledge economy.
