Monthly Quiz on United Kingdom
Vishwas Rehabilitation Centre, Greater Noida

The members of DGI SMILE CLUB organized a Monthly Quiz on United Kingdom for Vishwas members on 10th June 2015 in association with Aseem Library at Vishwas Rehabilitation Centre, Greater Noida. The quiz was prepared by Ms. Sophie Raymont, an intern in Richmond Fellowship Society, England who came to India for an internship inRichmond Fellow Society Delhi Branch. The quiz aimed at enhancing and evaluating the knowledge of the participants regarding the culture of United Kingdom.
Ms. Sophie Raymont conducted a meeting with SMILE Club members to share her observations regarding the life pattern of Vishwas members. She said that there was a lack of social communication and absence of happiness among the members. She suggested that SMILE Club could contribute a lot in enhancing their social skills. Mr. V.S. Mathur, Secretary of Richmond Fellowship Society, Delhi Branch, Dr. K.M. Khurana, Founding Member of Vishwas and Ms. Mridula Seth, Member of Governing Council, were present in the meeting.
Ms. Mridula Seth, in her opening speech introduced the monthly quiz activity and shared the contribution of SMILE Club in organizing the event.
The residents were divided into two teams namely “Challengers” and “Adventurers”. The volunteers of SMILE CLUB had also participated in the quiz to support the Vishwas members.
Ms. Sophie narrated the rules to all the participants before beginning the quiz.
The quiz consisted of three rounds as:
Round I - What and Where?
Round II- General Quiz Questions
Round III- Name that Tune
In the first round the images of some popular places and buildings such as London Bridge, Stonehenge and Big Ben were shown. The participants were required to name them instantly.
In the second round questions related to England- its culture, history, politics, literature, sports and education were asked. The participants enjoyed this round most by giving an elaborated answers for every question.
In the third round participants were shown the images of great leaders, artists, popular and renowned persons. They were asked to identify the figures and name them.
The inmates and the members actively participated and made it a healthy competition and a great learning experience that upgraded the knowledge of the participants.
Ms. Sophie presented her brief report after conducting the quiz. She also suggested various methods such as reading newspaper, sharing the news and watching movie to enhance Social Skills of Vishwas inmates.
At the end Ms. Mridula Seth delivered a concluding speech by thanking all the participants, SMILE CLUB members and Vishwas’ Counsellors for joining the quiz contest and making it a successful event.
The event ended with a group photograph followed by refreshment.
