"CSI DAY CELEBRATION"

The CSI Student Chapter of Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida celebrated the CSI Day - 2016 with great enthusiasm and overwhelming participation of students on 5th March 2016 at DGI, Greater Noida.
On this occasion, following events were conducted:
1. Programming Competition
2. Technical Lecture
3. Practical Interactive Session
Mr. Dipyaman Banerjee, Research Scientist, IBM Research Labs, New Delhi was the resource person for the day.
Prof. (Dr.) S. K. Bagga, Director, DGI, Greater Noida gave the welcome address. He welcomed Mr. Banerjee with a bouquet and introduced him to the participants. Dr. Bagga also gave a brief about the history of Computer Society of India.
The session further proceeded with one hour programming competition to judge the programming skills of the students. 16 CSI Student Members participated in the competition. The competition had 5 programming problems which had to be implemented in C or C++ language. The programs were based on the implementation of search algorithms, quadratic equations, and properties of triangles, matrices and number systems. The students were provided computer systems with C / C++ compiler to execute the programs. The winners were judged on the basis of efficiency of the program code and accuracy of the output.
A technical session was conducted by Mr. Dipyaman. The session was aimed at enhancing the knowledge of students in the field of Research on Artificial Intelligence and Mobile Computing. He gave a glimpse of some real time projects on which IBM is working and also encouraged students to have an optimistic outlook if one wants to make a career in the field of research. Thereafter, he interacted with students and solved their queries.
After a short lunch break, there was an interactive laboratory session of the students with Mr. Banerjee which gave an exposure of real time research projects in the area of Artificial Intelligence and Mobile Computing to the students. It acted as a stimulator for inculcating innovative ideas of research in the tender minds of the students. They were given an in - depth and hands-on demonstration of IBM Bluegene project, a revolution in the world of computing.
The event ended with the prize distribution ceremony of the winners of the programming competition. The list of winners is:
