Expert Talk "AI Revolution: Mapping Past, Present, and Future Landscapes"

CSI Student Chapter, Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida organized an expert talk on "AI Revolution: Mapping Past, Present, and Future Landscapes" on 8^th October 2024 for the students of AIML and IT department. Dr. Sandeep Kumar (Assistant Professor at Yardi School of Artificial Intelligence and Associate Faculty at IIT Delhi). 

The main objective of the talk was to enhance students’ knowledge about AI's concepts and advancements over time and motivate them to explore opportunities in the field of AI and related technologies. 

Prof. (Dr.) Arpita Gupta welcomed the guest and presented him with a sapling. She gave a brief introduction about Mr. Kumar. She said, Mr. Kumar was a recipient of the prestigious DST Inspire Faculty Fellowship Award and TCS Doctoral Fellowship, Dr. Kumar leads the Machine Intelligence Signals and Networks (MISN) lab, exploring the intersection of machine learning, graphical models, and deep learning. He passionately imparts knowledge through various courses and online platforms, making AI education accessible to all. Dr. Kumar also spearheads government and industry-funded projects harnessing AI/ML to tackle pressing societal issues in domains like neuroscience, earth sciences, and social welfare, cementing his commitment to nurturing the next generation of AI enthusiasts and driving positive impact

Dr. Sandeep Kumar focused on the transformative impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) across various sectors. He traced the historical progression of AI, highlighting its origins, key milestones, and breakthroughs. He emphasized how AI has evolved from rule-based systems to complex deep learning models, revolutionizing various industries. Dr. Kumar detailed the learning algorithms employed in training AI models. Later he discussed supervised, unsupervised and reinforcement learning, providing examples of how these algorithms function and their applications.

Dr. Kumar's talk inspired the students and faculty, to explore the vast possibilities of AI. His emphasis on interdisciplinary research and responsible AI development resonated with the attendees. The session concluded with a Q&A session, fostering meaningful discussions among attendees.

The expert talk by Dr. Sandeep Kumar was a resounding success, providing valuable insights into the AI revolution.
