Technical Talk and Hands-On Session: Learning Linux and Networking

CSI Student Chapter, Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida organized a technical talk and hands-on session on "Learning Linux and Networking" led by Mr. Nipun Tyagi, a Technical Consulting Engineer at Cisco. 110 third-year students from the B.Tech CSE, CSIT, AIML and IT departments attended the session. The event was anchored by Anshika Jain (3rd Year, CSIT Dept.) and coordinated by Ms. Jyoti Thakur (Faculty, DGI)
The event began on a gracious note with a warm welcome extended by Mr. Hridesh Gupta, a faculty member at DGI. As a gesture of appreciation and respect, he presented Mr. Tyagi with a plant sapling, symbolizing growth and sustainability.
Throughout the session, Mr. Tyagi emphasized the significance of Linux in the contemporary tech landscape. He provided a comprehensive introduction to the Linux operating system. He covered essential commands and functionalities that are crucial for any aspiring IT professional. The hands-on exercises allowed students to apply what they learned in real-time, enhancing their understanding and proficiency in Linux. Mr. Tyagi also addressed the skills and knowledge that are highly sought after in the industry, preparing students for future job interviews by sharing insights into commonly asked questions related to Linux and networking.
As the session progressed, Mr. Tyagi shifted the focus to networking concepts, introducing students to the OSI model. He elaborated on the various layers and functions of this model, illustrating its relevance in real-world networking scenarios. By demonstrating how Linux integrates into networking practices, he provided students with a clearer picture of its importance in managing and troubleshooting networks effectively.
Furthermore, he offered valuable advice on professional development, emphasized the importance of maintaining a strong LinkedIn profile. He outlined specific steps for securing a job at Cisco, highlighted the critical role of networking and continuous learning in career advancement.
