Quality Enhancement in Engineering Education (QEEE) Phase – III

A motivational talk by Prof. Ashok Jhunjhunwala, Chairman – QEEE was delivered through ICT on 19th January, 2015. The telecast was organized at Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida which is a QEEE Regional Centre of IIT, Madras. Around 25 faculty members from various department attended the seminar.
Quality Enhancement in Engineering Education (QEEE) is a program funded by MHRD (Ministry of Human Resource and Development) with an objective to enhance the quality of technical education in Under Graduate courses (Bachelors) of Engineering Colleges all over India (outside the IITs and the NITs).The QEEE Phase-III programmeis due to start on 20th January, 2015 at various institutions in India.
In his talk, Prof. Jhunjhunwala discussed about the scenario of the today’s engineering education. According to him, earlier around 25% students came from the rural areas but today due to awareness, participations of students from rural areas have increased immensely. It is mandatory for the institutions and the mentor to guide the students accordingly in an effective manner.
He discussed how we can improve the quality of education for the engineering world. According the Prof. Jhunjhunwala, it is necessary to make the education interactive and qualitative. After his motivational speech, he discussed various steps and the QEEE programme structure. He said, QEEE programme is one of the effective tool for the students and faculties where they can understand different various concept of designed courses. QEEE Phase-III, course is designed in 5 +1 lectures mode where 5 lectures with 1 tutorial will be conducted for the students. He said that some assignments will be given to the students which have to solved with the help of local faculty coordinator. He also discussed the FORUM for the discussion.
