Summer Workshop on Introduction to Proteus Design Tool
2nd & 3rd July 2018
The Department of ECE, EEE, Dronacharya Group of Institutions (DGI), Greater Noida in association with DGI-Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) Student Chapter organized two days workshop "Introduction to Proteus Design Tool" on 2nd - 3rd July 2018 at DGI campus. The workshop was conducted. Mr. Ravi Prakash Verma, Assistant Professor, Department of ECE & EEE.
The Summer Workshop 2018 was inaugurated by Hon’ble Director - DGI, Prof. (Dr.) Ashish Soti, who said that this kind of workshops help students to be industry ready. He motivated the students to be attentive during the workshop and stressed upon practical applications of the learning gained thereafter.
Introducing Proteus software package to the participants, Mr. Verma said that it is used for Electronic Design Automation (EDA) which is widely used to create schematics and electronic prints for manufacturing printed circuit boards. He said that it is also used for simulation and analysis of electronic circuits. The board under development can also be viewed in 3-D for better designing and analysis.
On the first day, participants learnt to simulate and analyse simple electronic circuits using ISIS module available in Proteus software package. Then they went onto simulate electronic circuits for 5V DC power supply, variable voltage modulator using LM317, buzzer system and learnt to leverage the use of oscilloscope.
Day two started with simulation of some more electronic circuits like DC Motor Drive, Stepper Motor Drive, Half and Full Wave Rectifier, Low Pass and High Pass Filters.
Later the participants were introduced to ARES, the PCB designing module available in Proteus software package. They designed various PCB layouts and also verified the design using 3D viewer. The workshop helped the participants learn:
- To leverage various features of Proteus software package
- To design and analyse various electronic circuits using ISIS module
- To design various PCB layout using ARES module
- To use Proteus for various project development
During the Feedback Session, participants appreciated the effort of the instructor, Mr. Verma. They were of the view that the learning they had from the workshop will help them in better designing and execution of their projects. Prof. Probeer Sahw, HOD, Department of ECE, EEE thanked the participants for their enthusiastic participation and successfully completion of two days workshop.
