"Emerging HVAC Technologies for Energy-Efficient Healthy Buildings in Hot & Humid Climates"

Mr. Ankur Sachdeva (SBA Faculty Advisor) Assistant Professor, ME Department Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida attended ASHRAE event “Distinguished Lecture (DL) Session” on the topic “Emerging HVAC Technologies for Energy-Efficient Healthy Buildings in Hot & Humid Climate” on 4th January 2025 at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.
The objective of attending the DL session was to learn the innovative and energy-efficient HVAC technologies that are designed for space cooling in commercial and residential buildings, especially meant for tropical regions of the world like India, China, Australia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, etc.
The DL session was delivered by an eminent speaker, Prof. (Dr.) Chandra Shekhar, Vice President of ASHRAE and Professor at the National University of Singapore.
Several dignitaries from ASHRAE India, industry, and academia graced the event on the day. Ms. Arundhati Khanna (President, ASHRAE India Chapter) wholeheartedly welcomed Prof. (Dr.) Chandrashekhar and other dignitaries. She briefed all the present about the motive behind the Distinguished Lecture (DL) Sessions arranged by the ASHRAE India Chapter.
The event started with a video highlighting the initiatives taken by Dr. Prem Jain towards the establishment of Green Buildings. This was followed by the unveiling of the 6th Inter-College Edition of the Dr. Prem Jain Memorial Cricket tournament to be played on 25/01/2025 in New Delhi.
Prof (Dr.) N. Chandrashekhar explained the concept and significance of Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) in the context of HVAC. He then explained the various air-conditioning technologies that are currently used across the world namely LFV-HCV, VAV/CAV, DOAS with the chilled ceiling and chilled beam, etc. He provided great insight into energy-efficient buildings by introducing the concept of personal ventilation and zero-energy buildings. Finally, Sh. Rahul Aeron, Vice-President, Sales, Bry-Air (Asia) introduced the products being manufactured by them related to vapour absorption and vapour adsorption refrigeration systems.
It was an exciting and enlightening experience for all and a privilege to meet the eminent persons in the field of HVAC in the country.
