Faculty Development Program on "Control of Pneumatic Valves"
29th December 2016 - 09th January 2017
A Faculty Development Program on "Control of Pneumatic Valves" on FESTO workstation kit was organized by Mechanical Engineering Department of Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida. Ms. Nisha Bhatt, Assistant Professor DGI Greater Noida conducted the FDP . Mr. Brijesh Verma and Mr. Anurag Sharma faculty Mechanical Engineering Department of attended the training.
The main objective of the training was the quality enhancement of faculty member so that they can enlighten engineering students to meet current technological demands of industries in automation fields.
Day 1: 29/12/2016
Ms. Nisha Bhatt started training with introduction of valves used in automation industries. She explained the comparison of mechanical, electric, hydraulic and pneumatic valves and told pneumatic valves are very much safer and less hazardous than the other control valves. Then she discussed various symbols and notations for different components used in pneumatic controls. Further she told three phase of training; Pure Pneumatic controls, Electro pneumatic controls and PLC pneumatic control.
On first day she explained direct and indirect control of single and double acting cylindrical valves. Faculty members had hands on practices on the above training session.
Day 2: 30/12/2016
On second day faculties started training with hands on practices. They also did practices on assigned exercises. Further Ms. Nisha Bhatt gave training on logic gates (AND, OR) used in valves. She also explained memory circuit and speed control circuit by using flow control valves.
Day 3: 06/01/2017
Third day started with practice of electro pneumatic direct control of single acting cylinder and double acting cylinder followed by practice of "AND" and "OR" logics. Next Ms. Nisha Bhatt explained the PLC (Programmable Logic Control) and its advantages over pneumatic and electro pneumatic controls. Then she explained, programming software of PLC and how to load it into machine memory. Further she trained the faculty member, the PLC Control of single acting cylinder and double acting cylinders with hand on practice followed by logical controls of the single and double acting cylinders.
Day 4: 07/01/2017
The training program on fourth day started with practice session of PLC programs on FESTO training unit. Both trainee were able to understand the application of NOT logic and combined logic through the exercise. Further Ms. Nisha Bhatt explained function of timer through PLC. The training ended with hands on practice of few practical problems.
Day 5: 09/01/2017
On last day both faculty member did hands on practice on timer function in PLC control unit. Then Ms. Nisha Bhatt explained the use of different sensors in pneumatic control valves. After that she told about reed switches. We also learned sequencing of pneumatic control valves by using roller and reed switches. At the end our trainer explained the function of counter through PLC. The training ended with hand on practice on real problems.
The training program was knowledgeable and informative which helped faculty member to broaden the horizon of their understanding on pneumatic valves in automation field.
