Workshop on Human Values and Professional Ethics

Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), Lucknow organized a Refresher Workshop on Human Values & Professional Ethics from 13th – 20th June 2017 at ABESIT, Ghaziabad. Ms. Ragini Tiwari, Department of Management Studies, Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida attended the Workshop as a participant.
Day 1: 13th June 2017
The FDP was inaugurated by Dr. Manish Kumar Jha, Director, ABESIT, Ghaziabad on 13/06/2017.
Prof. Deepak Garg, Convener of the Program welcomed the Resource Person Prof. Gopal Babu, participants and the guests.
Prof. Gopal Babu highlighted the concept of value education and its necessity in the modern days. He said that both the human values and technical values are important and necessary for individuals. He stressed that “Without knowledge and understanding of the very most basic human values nobody can give a direction to one's life that makes sense”.
Prof. Deepak Garg shared his views on the importance of human values in day to day life and highlighted:
- Value of Education
- Importance of a Happy Life.
In the next session Prof. Babu discussed the course contents of Human Values & Professional Ethics. He said that role of education in holistic development of a person is the main aim of the HVPE and highlighted the contents (Desire-Happiness, Prosperity & its continuity) of the workshop. He focused on developing the right understanding of oneself through self - exploration and realization of the inherent attributes like co-existence, harmony and self - regulation.
The last session of the day was a group discussion on “Sources of Happiness”.
Day 2: 14th June 2017
Prof. Babu discussed the concept of “Right Understanding”. He said that “The role of education is to facilitate the development of the competence and to live with proper human conduct”.
Prof. Babu elaborated on the theory of Self-Exploration and discussed the sources of happiness. Later, group discussion was held on “Self-Exploration”.
Day 3: 15th June 2017
Prof. Babu focused on the concept of Justice. He described the feeling of justice with nine factors:
- Trust (Intention /competence)
- Respect (Right Evaluation)
- Affection
- Care
- Guidance
- Reverence
- Glory
- Gratitude
- Love (Complete Value)
He emphasized on the word Gratitude. He explained that the word “Gratitude is the recognition of unearned increments of value in one’s experience”.
Day 4: 16th June 2017
Prof. Babu shared his views on Desire, Thoughts and Expectation. He said that Desire and Expectation is just as the Creative Process that involves both thoughts and beliefs. Desire without expectation is just wishing, hoping and dreaming. Thoughts are connected with analyzing and the expectations are connected with selecting/testing.
Day 5: 17th June 2017
Prof. Babu discussed Units and Space. He explained Unit as something that is limited in size. A human hair to the biggest planets we know of, they all are limited in size. Human beings, animals, lumps of matter as well as various atoms and molecules, are all units. We can recognize them as they are countable. Whereas, space is not a unit but it exists, as a reality. We can’t touch it, smell it. We normally just see through it. It exists everywhere. In other words the empty area all around the nature is space.
Day 6: 18th June 2017
Prof. Babu discussed the theory of Ethical Human Conduct. He stated that the right understanding gained through self-exploration enables us to identify the definitiveness of human conduct which may also be called the ethical human conduct. It is the same for all human beings.
Day 7: 19th June 2017
Prof. Babu focused on the four orders of the nature:
- Material Order (Temporary, Recognizing, Fulfilling)
- Pranic Order (Recognizing, Fulfilling)
- Animal Order (Knowing, Assuming, Recognizing & Fulfilling)
- Human Order (Knowing, Assuming, Recognizing & Fulfilling)

Sharing Session
Prof. Gopal Babu conducted an interactive session with the participants on their views on five topics:
- Name
- Affiliation
- Experience of previous workshop
- Achievements
- Commitment for family/society
Day 8: 20th June 2017
Valediction Ceremony was held on 20th June 2017. The participants gave their suggestions and feedback for the workshop. Certificates were awarded to the participants.
