Student Alumni Connection

The Department of ECE & EEE organized event under the Student Alumni Connection program on 9th February 2019 at Dronacharya Group of Institutions (DGI), Greater Noida. This program is a DGI initiative to celebrate the success of its alumni and provide an opportunity to its current students to learn from the experiences of its alumni.
Mr. Saurabh Jiwal (Assistant Engineer, Ericsson and Batch of 2013-17) and Mr. Tarun Sharma (Assistant Manager, Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited and Batch of 2013-17) were the invited alumni for this event. Both the alumni were welcomed by Prof. B. L. Kaul, Hon’ble Registrar, DGI; Prof. TPN Singh, Advisor R&D, DGI and Mr. Probeer Sahw, HOD, Dept. of ECE & EEE, DGI.
The first session was delivered by Mr. Saurabh Jiwal. He said that after specializing in Network Engineering (Commissioning and Integration of Sprint Network through Samsung vendor), he underwent internships with multinationals like HUAWEI and Consortium for Innovation and worked on multiple projects like IOT Based Elderly Healthcare System, SPOT: Women Safety Wearable Band, IOT based Car Parking System with Automatic Target Surveillance and VACCO-COOL.
Mr. Jiwal described various aspects of project development at length. He interacted with the students to discuss how they can efficiently develop quality projects on their own. And stressed upon the importance of practical knowledge in career advancements. He said that the students, apart from project development, must also concentrate on building their aptitude and logical reasoning. He added that that the industries are highly competitive now and the students must have strong command on programming languages to stay relevant in such a competitive environment.
The next session was conducted by Mr. Tarun Sharma. He shared his experience of working in Service Excellence where he manages Quality Initiatives with emphasis on Continuous Improvement and Excellence. He said that the internships at Vodafone and Central Electronics Limited helped him acquire a great understanding in feedback survey development, Insight Generation, Supply Chain Management and Inventory Management.
He also shared his experience on project development and how these helped him in overall development and career advancement. During his studies he had worked on multiple projects like Home Automation and VACCO-COOL.
He advised the students not to get impatient while chasing their dreams. He suggested them to endure and learn from rejections and not be afraid of it since learning is a life time process. He also shared the dos and don’ts of one’s conduct during placement drives and interviews.
The students were glad to meet their seniors and learn from their experience.
