Industrial Visit to Centre for e-Governance (DeitY)

An Industrial Visit to Centre for e-Governance, Department of Electronics & Information Technology (DeitY) was organized by the Department of ECE & EEE, Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida for the students of V Semester ECE & EEE on 24th September, 2015. 32 students along with Mr. Anoop Mishra, Assistant Professor, Department of EEE, DGI. Gr. Noida visited CeG.
At CeG an introductory session was started by Mr. Sunil Kumar, Project Manager, DeitY, New Delhi in which he explained the Vision & Mission of DeitY. Mr. Kumar said that the vision of DeitY is e-Development of India as an engine for transition into a developed nation and an empowered society. Moreover, the mission of DeitY is to promote e-Governance for empowering citizens, promoting the inclusive and sustainable growth of the Electronics and IT industries. It aims at enhancing India’s role in Internet Governance by adopting a an approach which includes development of human resources. It also works in promoting R&D and innovation, enhancing efficiency through digital services and ensuring a secure cyber space. He further explained the various programs of DeitY like:
1. e-Government: Providing e-infrastructure for delivery of e-services.
2. e-Industry: Promotion of electronics hardware manufacturing and IT-ITeS industry.
3. e-Innovation / R&D: Implementation of R&D Framework - Enabling creation of Innovation / R&D Infrastructure in emerging areas of ICT&E / Establishment of mechanism for R&D translation.
4. e-Learning: Providing support for development of e-Skills and Knowledge network.
5. e-Security: Securing India’s cyber space.
6. e-Inclusion: Promoting the use of ICT for more inclusive growth.
7. Internet Governance: Enhancing India’s role in Global Platforms of Internet Governance.
Mr. Sunil Kumar then explained the initiative taken by the government of India to develop e-Government like Digital India, e-Governance Cell, e-Sanjeevani, www.mygov.com etc. e-Sanjeevani is an on line portal to consult the doctors on line from the remote areas which can save the time and cost of the person.
Mr. Kumar said that the Government of India is taking initiative to reduce the physical load of students’ bag. They are working on e-Basta which makes free physical load of students’ bag and make an on line storage of overall study material and provides a personal login id and password to access from anywhere.
At the end of the session a quiz test was conducted in which the students of ECE V semester (Kanupriya Madan, Deeksha Rawat and Mohit Pathak) secured the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Position respectively. The visit was very useful for the students where they came to know about the functioning of DeitY and the job opportunities for them in these sectors.
