Industrial Visit To Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL), New Delhi

The ECE and EEE department of Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida, organized an industrial visit foreleven students from II year to Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited, (MTNL) on 24th September 2015. Ms. Shailika Sharma was the faculty coordinator for the visit.
The main objective of industrial visit was to make the students aware of the practical techniques used for communication, latest equipment and components used, and trends in Electronics industry.
Mr. B.D Sharma, CEO, MTNL welcomed the students and briefed about the telephone exchange and the training centre. He explained the advantages of the short term and long term training courses offered by the company.
In the first session taken by Mr. Om Veer, SDO students were explained about 5ESS where they learnt about modulation, types of AM, CM, and SM respectively and various switching system. They also learnt the concept of Internet Protocols, IPV4and IPV6 versions. Thereafter, they were taken to EWSD Section. Mr. Satya Veer Singh, Sub Divisional Engineer explained the working of EWSD. Various Equipments were demonstrated in detail. The students also gained knowledge of Base transceiver station (BTS), Base Station Controller (BSC) and Mobile Switching Centre (MSC) related to Cellular Communication.
In the next session students were taken to Main Distribution Frame (MDF), Mr. R. B Khushwaha showed the outlets from the exchange going out to various local exchanges through fiber optics. He explained about ‘Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer’ (DSLAM) & showed DSLAM of various companies like Huawei, Nokia & Siemens.
Overall the visit has been very useful for the students as it gave them an exposure on the latest components and techniques in the field of Communication as well on the latest trends in Electronics Industry.
