Prof. (Dr.) Ritu Soryan, faculty member of Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida, served as a resource person for the AICTE-ATAL FDP-2025 on Next-Gen Computing for Sustainability: Intelligent Technologies and Data-Driven Solutions. She delivered her expert session on 22nd November 2025at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Delhi NCR Campus.
The six-day FDP aimed to strengthen faculty expertise in intelligent systems, sustainable technologies, ethical AI, and innovations aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The programme brought together academicians, researchers, and industry experts who discussed the evolving role of AI, ML, DL, and data-driven solutions in sectors like smart cities, agriculture, water management, healthcare, and Industry 4.0.
Dr. Soryan’s session, focused on “Ethical AI for Water Justice: Using Intelligent Systems to Balance Technology, Humanity and the Planet.” She began by highlighting the global water crisis and presented real-world examples from India, Africa, and other regions. She showcased how ethical AI applications-such as AI-based drought alerts, IoT-enabled water monitoring, and intelligent irrigation systems-can transform water resource management.
The speaker emphasized the importance of ethical considerations in AI, addressing issues related to data ownership, community representation, and equitable access. Linking her discussion to the SDGs, she underscored the need for integrating values and social responsibility into technological development.
Dr. Soryan concluded by urging educators, researchers, policymakers, and citizens to work collectively towards sustainable and ethical AI adoption. Her session was appreciated for its depth, relevance, and strong message on balancing technology with human and environmental well-being.
The FDP provided participants with enriched knowledge, research motivation, and new perspectives on integrating sustainability and ethics into academic and technological pursuits. Dr. Soryan’s contribution added significant value to the programme.
