Celebration of IEEE Day-2018

DGI - IEEE Student Branch celebrated IEEE Day-2018 on 1st October 2018. The event commenced in the presence of Prof. (Dr.) Ashish Soti, Honorable Director - DGI, Prof. B. L. Kaul, Honorable Registrar - DGI and Mr. Probeer Sahw, HOD-ECE & EEE.
Welcoming the guests, participants and the audience, Mr. Sahw informed that the theme of IEEE Day is "Leveraging Technology for Better Tomorrow". He said that it is an occasion when IEEE members join together to collaborate on ideas.
In line with the theme of the IEEE Day, DGI-IEEE Student Branch organized "Teach n Preach". In this event participants were called to give a 10 minutes demonstration/presentation on a selected scientific concept or contemporary technology. The participants were expected to explain the chosen topic in a very innovative and lucid manner to the audience within the stipulated time.
The participants chose contemporary and very interesting topics from varied field of science and technology to speak upon. The participants chose topics like Cold Fusion, Virtual Reality, Dark Web, Artificial Intelligence, Protecting Yourself in a Digital World, Block Chain, Cloud Computing, Nanotechnology, Magic of Programming Languages and its Importance and Determine which Tech Trend Matters. The event was highly informative and interactive. The participants put forward a highly researched presentation on their selected topics. The audience reciprocated with equal zeal by discussing and asking questions on the selected topics.
After a highly energetic session the following three participants were adjudged the winners of the event:
- First Position: Dravid Nagi, CSE, 3rd Year
- Second Position: Utkarsh Singhal, IT, 2nd Year
- Third Position: Aashika Rastogi, CSIT, 2nd Year
The winners received books authored by Prof. Stephen Hawking in prize by Mr. Sahw, who also thanked all the participants and coordinators for their enthusiastic participation in the celebration of IEEE Day.
