“Industrial Robotic Arms; Its programming and applications”
19th OCTOBER 2015
The QEEE - CII Industry Bridge is a program structured for providing practical & application oriented Engineering inputs to the students across the country, by the experts from different sectors of the industry. CII works as an industry partner with the QEEE team in IIT, Madras by getting the experts from the industry.
A lecture session based on “Industrial Robotic Arms” organized by QEEE-CII industry bridge program was held from 10:00 am to 12:00 am on 19th October 2015 at Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida. Prof. Asokan T, IITM, delivered a very highly informative lecture. The session was a combination of videos, presentations and interactions. The two hour session comprises 70 minutes of knowledge inputs and 40 minutes of a Question and Answers session. For the future references, all the materials of the session, videos and self-assessment quiz, made available in the national knowledge network and the My CII knowledge portal.
Being an active remote center, Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida also participated in this game changing session. The targeted audience for this program was faculties as well as students from Mechanical Engineering background. Mr. Midhun Chithambaran, Assistant Professor, Mechanical Engineering Department along with 45 students from final year Mechanical Engineering Department was the attendees.
Session1
10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Prof. Asokan T started the session with the introduction of software MTAB; a widely used platform for coding and simulation of robotic arm in the industry. Readymade applications are available within to train the operations of robot such as movement of its arm, programming etc. This software gives the flexibility to design the arm/application and import into the software for simulation. He displayed how to give the constraints of motion in all 6 degree of freedom as well as movement of arm in the entire axis. As an example he made a simple robotic arm and made it work at his command. He showed the visible changes by changing the values of axis and selecting predefined motions.
The Two hours with Prof. Asokan T was very knowledgeable which indeed helped the students as well as faculties to broaden the horizon of their knowledge about Robotic arm programming and its applications.
