Addressing Cyber Security Challenges

Cisco Networking Academy presented a live one hour CISCOTV broadcast Find Yourself in the Future. Students fromDronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida participated in the TV Series program on CybersecurityChallenges on 7th, October 2015. The speaker for the webinar was Meng-Chow Kang, Director, Information Security Cisco and the topic of his discussion was Cisco's Approach to Cybersecurity: Before, During and After an Attack.
CISCO TV broadcasted 4 sessions of the TV series by Cisco experts to draw on their collective expertise, and introduce the participants that how advanced technology is transforming industries and shaping the modern world.
Meng-Chow Kang highlighted on The Infosec Lifecycle. He categorized into 3 different stages namely Defend, Discover and the Remediate. He also highlighted the steps that are required to be taken for these stages and discussed about both the “ Known Risk”, for which protection has be secured against 95% and “Unknown Risks”, securities evolved to secure the cyber world against it is 5% . He suggested that the foundational protections that are to be initiated for these risks are The Policies & Practices, Security Technologies, Anti-virus, Firewalls, IDS/IPS, WSA/ESA, Security Architecture, Network Segmentation, Security Monitoring. He then lectured about Operational Use of Intel and Security Analytics. Finally the webinar ended with the discussions on the case studies based on cyber security and related topics.
Dr Meng Chow Kang explored in his lecture Cisco's approach to cybersecurity and how to navigate this ever increasing threat. Cyber intrusions and attacks have increased dramatically over the last decade, exposing sensitive personal and business information, disrupting critical operations, and imposing high costs on the economy. Cyber-attacks are becoming more and more complex, increasing the risk they pose for companies.
The event also hosted a quiz competition on Cyber security. The questions were based on the webinar session. 21 students from Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida participated in the contest and Mr Ajay Verma, IInd year student from the department of Computer Science and Engineering, won accolades for winning the 1st prize amongst 3000participants. The winner was awarded certificate and prize.
