Management Development Program on
"Design Thinking for Strategy and Innovation"

Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow in association with Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), Lucknow organized a 3 - Days Management Development Program on "Design Thinking for Strategy and Innovation" for AKTU affiliated colleges' faculty members from 6th September 2019 - 8th September 2019.
Dr. Sahab Singh, Associate Professor, Department of Management Studies, Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida attended this valued program.
The goal of this MDP was to equip the participants with management skills to engage students for the smooth conduction of classes, sharpen their minds for solving problems skillfully for the holistic development and improvement of young generation and to discuss a few strategies to make engineering education meaningful and human centric.
Inaugural Session : Day - 1
Prof. Sabyasachi Sinha, Associate Professor of Strategy, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation at IIM Lucknow, welcomed the participants and delivered a very informative session on strategy, factors affects strategy and how strategy works.
Prof. Sinha explained the difference between good and bad strategy. He put emphasis on creativity and innovation. He said that learning helps change our brain because new synopses, skills & experiences create new neural connections and this process strengthens synopses; reiteration and practice strengthens neural connections which lead to innovation.
Session : Day - 2
Prof. Sinha explained the ideation process and generation of new ideas in his lecture. He said that it is important to become innovator rather than showing excellency in research.
He also discussed "Design Thinking Capability in VUCA World" and explained Science vs. Engineering. He said that science has more to do with invention while engineering deals with exploitation of knowledge and application.
Session : Day - 3
Prof. Sinha conducted a session on the process of design thinking and explained its process, i.e., empathize, define, ideate, prototype and test.
He conducted a few activities to make the participants understand the value of design thinking.
During the Valedictory Session, Prof. Sinha awarded the participants with MDP certificates. He suggested that faculty must bring design thinking in application and help themselves manage time and issues effectively. Prof. Sinha concluded the MDP with the quote, "Change the smell of the place to revitalize people".
