NATIONAL CONFERENCE ON AUTOMATION & CONTROL
28th NOVEMBER 2015
National Conference on Automation & Control was organized on 28th November 2015 by the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida.
Prof (Dr.) Mini Thomas, Professor- Jamia Milia Islamia University chaired the First Session. She has been awarded theIEEE EAB Meritorious Achievement Award in Continuing Education for the enormous amount of work she has done for designing and developing the curriculum and laboratory facilities for professionals and students in the electric utility industry.
The second Session was chaired by Prof (Dr.) B.K Panigrahi, Professor- IIT, Delhi. Prof Panigrahi is a senior member of IEEE & recipient of Young Scientist award from Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of Odisha.
The conference started with a welcome address by Prof. S.K Bagga, Director, DGI, Greater Noida. He introduced Prof (Dr.) Mini Thomas and Prof (Dr.) B.K Panigrahi who has done extensive research work in the area of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Systems, Substation & Distribution Automation and Smart Grid. Prof Bagga also briefed about the aims and benefits of the conference. Prof (Dr.) H.S Dua, HOD (ECE) delivered the key note address. He covered various advanced techniques in Automation and Control. He further brought out the implications of automation on the overall job scenario globally.
Prof (Dr.) Mini Thomas during her address said that in the new millennium, research in Electronics & Electrical Engineering has progressed towards emerging areas such as Industrial Automation, Process Automation, Robotics, Control and Instrumentation, Control Systems, PLC, SCADA, Lab Instrumentation, Assembly and Handling Systems and Linear Positioning Systems. She gave a brief of the first of its kind SCADA and Substation Automation (SA) Laboratory set up at JMI, which is bringing laurels to the University in terms of research publications, MOUs, and training opportunities. Power Grid Technical personnel are being trained in that lab on regular basis.
Prof (Dr.) B.K Panigrahi, delivered his lecture on Fuzzy Logic & Automation and Control. He also discussed various advantages of fuzzy logic on power transmission and distribution system.
54 participants registered for the conference and 12 papers in Session I and session II in the following topics automation and Controls were presented : A review on HANDTALK : Interpreter for The “Differently abled", Designing Real - Time Infrared Based Eye Blink Detection System using LabVIEW, Intelligent Traffic Light and Density Control, Smart Farming, Smart Phone Controlled Robot Using ATMEGA328 Microcontroller, Adaptive Cruise control in real time data service for automotive applications etc.
The Conference provided a hands on learning in the field of automation and Controls. At the end of the Conference Certificates were distributed to the paper Presenters.
