One week Short Term Course (STC) on
"Antenna Design and Fabrication using Additive Manufacturing Techniques"
at (NITTTR), Chandigarh
20th - 24th March 2023
Dr. Kaustubh Kumar Shukla (Asst. Prof. – ECE Dept.) of Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida attended one week training on “Antenna Design and Fabrication using Additive Manufacturing Techniques” at National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR), Chandigarh from 20th – 24th March, 2023. There were three session in a day.
Day 1
Day 1, first session was dedicated towards registration and Inauguration. The second session included lecture on Basics of 3D Printing/ Additive Manufacturing Techniques Part -1 and the third session of the day taught the Part -2 of the same topic by Prof. Rupinder Singh, NITTTR Chandigarh.
Day 2
The first session of day 2 included teaching of Fundamentals of Microstrip Antennas Part – 1. Part -2 was taught during the second session by Dr. Abhishek Kandhwal, Shoolini University, Solan. The last session was meant for Practice session on 3 D Printer. The trainer of the session was Dr. Balwinder S Dhaliwal, NITTTR Chandigarh.
Day 3
The first session of Day 3 made the participants acquire the knowledge related to Simulation of Microstrip Antenna using HFSS Part -1. The second session included learning of Part 2 of the same topic by Dr. Garima Saini, NITTTR Chandigarh. The third session included practice session on Antenna simulation using HFSS under the guidance of Dr. Garima Saini.
Day 4
Substrate Printing for Antenna Design using 3D Printer was taught during the first session of the day. The second session included Antenna Fabrication and Testing. Towards the end of the day everybody participated in practice session on Antenna testing. The trainer of all the three sessions was Dr. Balwinder S Dhaliwal.
Day 5
On the last day of training, case studies on 3 D Printed Antenna design was carried by Dr. Balwinder S Dhaliwal and lastly feedback/valediction ceremony took place.
To brief, during the one week training, participants of the STC learned the following:
- Basics of 3D printing, related concepts and its diverse applications
- Additive manufacturing techniques and possible research using this technique
- Fundamental theory of antennas and major research using Microstrip antennas.
- Practice session on 3D Printer about how to make a design or substrate
- Introduction and process of how to work and design different structures using HFSS
- Step by step process and simulation of Microstrip antenna using HFSS.
- Substrate printing for antenna design using 3D printer.
- Antenna fabrication and testing.
- Case studies on 3D printed antenna design.
Participants gained knowledge on the topic ‘To design an Antenna required data’s obtained through MATLAB.’ The LAB sessions and hands on training were very informative.
