Participation in SocProS 2025

Faculty member Prof. Shiwani Sharma and Diwakar Kumar(MBA first-year student) from the Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noidaattended the 13thInternational Conference on“Soft Computing for Problem Solving (SocProS 2025)” at IIT Roorkee from 24th-26th February, 2025.
The conference, themed "Artificial Intelligence for Viksit Bharat," provided a platform for researchers, academicians and industry experts to discuss the latest advancements in Artificial Intelligence and Soft Computing.
Prof. Shiwani Sharma presented her research through a poster titled "AI-Driven Solutions for Optimizing Product Returns: Reducing Waste and Maximizing Material Recovery". Her work focused on leveraging artificial intelligence to enhance reverse logistics aiming to minimize waste and improve the efficiency of material recovery processes.
Under the supervision of Prof.Shiwani Sharma, Diwakar Kumar presented his poster on "Renewable Fuel Solutions for Freight Transport in India: A Fuzzy Multi-Criteria Approach." His research employed fuzzy logic to evaluate and propose sustainable fuel alternatives for the freight industry in India addressing environmental concerns and promoting cleaner transportation solutions.
One of the key highlights of the conference was the plenary talk on "Woodland and Urban Fires: A Significant Need and Opportunity for AI and Machine Learning" delivered by Prof. David L. Blunck, Associate Dean from the College of Engineering, Oregon State University, USA. His insightful discussion emphasized how AI and Machine Learning techniques can be leveraged for predictive modeling, early detection and mitigation of large-scale fire hazards thus contributing to environmental sustainability and disaster management.
Prof.Shiwani Sharma and DiwakarKumar had an enriching interaction with Prof. David L.Blunckgaining valuable perspectives on global research trends in AI and its applications. Additionally they attended various technical sessions, panel discussions and paper presentations on topics related to soft computing, artificial intelligence and their role in shaping a developed India (Viksit Bharat).
The conference provided a great learning opportunity offering exposure to cutting-edge AI research and networking with experts from academia and industry.
