Run for Unity: A Tribute to the Iron Man of India

NSS Units of Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida, organized a “Run for Unity” on 31st October 2025 to commemorate the Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, fondly remembered as the Iron Man of India. The event was a tribute to Sardar Patel’s remarkable efforts in unifying India and strengthening the fabric of national integration. The event was organized under the guidance of Dr. Mamta Bhardwaj (NSS-Coordinator)

The program began with a pledge ceremony, where faculty members, NSS volunteers, and students gathered to reaffirm their commitment to uphold the unity, integrity, and security of the nation. The pledge echoed the ideals and vision of Sardar Patel, inspiring participants to contribute positively to the development and cohesion of the country.

Following the pledge, students enthusiastically participated in the Run for Unity held within the campus premises. The energetic atmosphere reflected the collective spirit of determination and patriotism as participants ran with a shared sense of purpose — to celebrate unity in diversity.

The winners were felicitated by the Director Prof. (Dr.) Sangeeta Mangesh Karyakarte and Registrar Prof. (Dr.) Shailesh Kumar Singh of the institution, who congratulated them for their outstanding performances and commended all participants for their enthusiasm and sportsmanship. They emphasized that such activities not only promote physical fitness but also nurture values of unity, teamwork, and leadership among students.

The event concluded with the National Anthem, symbolizing pride and respect for the nation, followed by the distribution of refreshments to all participants. The entire event was anchored and coordinated effectively by Pushkar Nagar from the AIML Branch, 1st Year, whose confidence and clarity ensured the smooth conduct of proceedings.

The “Run for Unity” was more than just a fitness event — it served as a reminder of India’s strength in diversity and a tribute to the vision of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who laid the foundation for a united India. The event successfully instilled a sense of national pride, teamwork, and social responsibility among the students, resonating with the core values of the National Service Scheme (NSS) and the institution’s mission to nurture responsible citizens.
