22nd CII India Design Summit, 2022

Institution's Innovation Council (IIC), Ministry of Education (MoE), Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida streamed an online session on “22nd CII India Design Summit, 2022.” for its students. The session was organized by Confederation of India Industry (CII). 2nd & 3rd year B.Tech students of the college attended the session.
The theme of the session was “Design for Transformation.”
Mr. Udayant Malhoutra, (Chairman CII National Committee on Design) inaugurated the session with the welcome speech for all the dignitaries and IIC’s attending the session. He told India is as an active member of Design organization at present. India started from rank of 81 in 2015 to 40 in 2022, and sees a jump of 41 places in 7 years in the Global Innovation Index 2022. Then, Shri Anurag Jain (Secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry, and Internal Trade (DPIIT) ) Government of India gave special address and highlighted the need for transformation in design industry. He further told, students and faculty members of an educational institution must look for innovative ways in design formation to exceed in the product and service industry. He articulated, these days’ client servicing industry and user behaviors have changed. Eye-appealing designs enable companies to move up the value chain and generate great products and thus increase in revenue. He then explained about the challenges related to designing and classified them into four categories as productivity related challenges, wage related challenges, training and upskilling related challenges and client related challenges.
Many leaders of the design industry were the eminent speakers of the session. Prof. Mary Reisel Professor, (Rikkyo University & Mentor, Stanford Design Thinking), Mr Mohan Krishnaraj (Chief Experience Officer WONGDOODY, Infosys India) Dr. Shankar Venugopal (Vice President – Technology Innovation Mahindra & Mahindra), Shri R K Singh (Joint Secretary, DPIIT), Prof Dhiraj Kumar (Director, NID Madhya Pradesh), Mr. Luis Calabuig (Head, Odosdesign, Spain) were some of the speakers and leaders from the design industry who deliberated the concept of need for transformation in design industry.
The representative from Japan Ms. Makiko Tsumura (Board Member, World Design organization & Director, Japan Institute of Design Promotion) told about Good Design Award concept prevailing in Japan for promoting innovations in design industry.
Then, Professor Pradyumna Vyas (Senior Adviser, CII) deliberated the role of National Design Policy thanked all the speakers’ efforts and gave special vote of thanks to all the speakers.
Students of DGI watched the session and grasp many valuable ideas which could be helpful to them in future.
