CII-North East Oil & Gas Conclave 2017 (The Claridges, New Delhi)

    Confederation of Indian  Industry (CII) organized the North East Oil and Gas Conclave 2017 in  New Delhi on 28th October 2017. Mr. Gaurav Siwal, Assistant Professor, and two students Madhurendra Sharma & Prashant  Tripathi attended the Conclave on behalf of Dronacharya Group of  Institutions.  
The event was inaugurated with the traditional lighting of lamp and was  graced by several dignitaries, including:
  
  -  Mr. Chandra Mohan Patowary, Hon’ble Minister for Industries &  Commerce, Govt. of Assam
-  Mr. Abhijit Barooah, Co Chairman CII North East Council
-  Mr. G. K. Singha Roy, Executive Director, ONGC Ltd; 
- Dr. P. Chandrasekaran, Director, (Exploration and Development)  of Oil India Limited 
-  Dr. G. S. G. Ayyangar, IAS, Principal Resident Commissioner, Govt.  Of Tripura
-  Mr. Ravi Capoor, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Govt. of  Assam
The conclave was intended to discuss the Plans and Policies to develop  Oil and Gas Industry in North East region. North East has huge repository of  energy inputs, including oil & gas. With limited utilization so far, There  is tremendous potential for garnering greater economic value for this sector.  The session reflected the Governments agenda in terms of new Polices being  enacted at various levels in view of the Hydrocarbon Vision 2030 for North East  India. 
The Technical Session on “Policy Intervention for Addressing  Sectional Needs” provided the detailed overview of the potentials and plans  for leveraging advantage through policy interventions. Mr. Satyajit Ganguly,  Managing Director, OTPC, Mr. Ajay Kansal, DGM, Directorate General of  Hydrocarbons, Mr. M. K. Jha, Former director IOCL, Mr. D. M. Rao, Chief General  Manager, GAIL and Mr. Prachur Sah, Managing Director, Schlumberger Asia  Services Ltd. were the members of Panel Discussion.
The Second Technical Session on “Infrastructure Challenges – The  Road Ahead” was intended to identify infrastructure challenges for  operating in the North East and the way forward. Mr. A. K. Dikshit, Deputy  Director General, Border Roads Organization, Mr. Rakesh Jain, CEO, Jubliant  Oil& Gas Pvt. Ltd. And Mr. Narendra Gupta, General Manager, ONGC Ltd was  the members of panel discussion.
The event concluded with the closing remarks from Mr. S. K. Srivastava,  Former CMD, Oil India Ltd.
